  1. To secure the top spot in the playoffs with the issues in the rotation, was excellent coaching. Even when healthy, the starters shit the bed often, and the Dodgers found a way to continue winning in the regular season.

  2. Doc has been ruthless this series, he is super serious in the post game pressers. He’s calling out the other team’s super star, he’s messing with the line-up right before game time. He is not taking his foot off the gas even when blowing out the Padres. He reminds me of Kobe in the playoffs, dude is not fucking around. I love it, I’ve never seen him coach like this in the past.

  3. Let’s hope he manages on par with game 1 and 4. That shit was ruthless. Love Yamamoto but he’s gotta be ready to go to the bullpen the second he gets into trouble.

  4. Surely he will pivot if there is any falter with Yamamoto – one thing I’ve observed this whole series is how intently Dave is making notes in the dugout. He’s doing his homework to make sure he creates the best orchestration. Contrary to how many frustrating losses we had over the regular season, and people blamed Roberts…. we still finished with the best record despite all of the injured players. The regular season is like the audition and the playoffs are where the rubber meets the road!

  5. In some years past, I’ve been upset with Doc and his management choices during playoff series we’ve lost.

This season, if we do get bounced it’s because we’ve had the worst injury luck I’ve ever seen in my 35 years of existence and bleeding blue. What he’s done to help get us this far is more than deserving of another go next season with (hopefully) an actually healthy starting rotation.

  6. Dave Roberts haters are truly crazy.

Look at teams like the Mets, Padres, and Yankees, that have gone all in various times over last years with big payrolls and yet somehow managed to miss the playoffs. Making the playoffs every single year for a decade since he took the job is unprecedented, and much of that can be attributed to Dave Roberts.

  7. For people outside the dodgers fandom the most common narrative I heard was he wasn’t good in high pressure situational baseball and relied too much on analytics.

I’ve liked everything I’ve seen all year. I think he’s been great!! I love the culture he’s fostered in the clubhouse. A lot of smiles, laughter, and a team with a lot of fire and drive that opponents can’t extinguish!!!! LFG!!!!

  8. Tepidly agreed.

He’s done a fine job this year. The piss poor state of the team’s SP isn’t on him.

If they get shitcanned tonight, this won’t be a repeat of 2019. SD was favored to win.

He did everything he could to help them advance.

  9. He has been superb. If success in baseball was rewarded in the same way as European soccer, where the genuine best team over the course of the season is crowned champion through gaining the most points in the league, he would be regarded as an all-time great. But success in baseball is defined by performance in the lottery of the playoffs. Especially since the format expanded (and I’m talking from the old days of simply having the two league winners play the World Series), it hasn’t been a system that rewards the best team. Now that all the teams play each other, there should be some prize for the best record that is regarded on a level similar to or above the World Series. Dave is the man, even with the resources at his disposal.

  10. He’s done an extremely solid job managing the starters and bullpen. Going into this series we all knew it would be tough. Padres are hot, had a great trade deadline, and our pitching is holding on by a thread.

I still cant shake the fact that “we own the west” doesnt ring true until we win this series.

So lets get it fucking done.

  11. using a lot of pitchers to trip up the padres seems to be the silver bullet here. I think Yoshi starting is good but it would be wise to pull him after like 3 innings max.

  12. I honestly feel that this year was his best year as a manager, this one was tough and he still steered the team to a #1 seed.

  13. Everyone calling for his head obviously either forgets how the 90s and 2000s were or werent born yet
