Credit where it’s due, this should be Vance Joseph on the picture
Some owner is gonna give Vance another shot as a head coach. Hopefully that doesn’t happen this off-season.
Vance was asked about this and he said at that 2023 game he was trying to combine his defensive scheme with a different one and had players at positions they were not good at. After that game he chucked one of the schemes and returned to what he was familiar with.
If it wasn’t for that stupid Raiders garbage time TD we’d still only be at 65. Woulda taken til at least week 6 to break 70
This is why I hate firing coaches so early.
Just for a better perspective, in 4 out of the 5 first games we allowed 99 points last year, or an average of 24.75 per game.
This season we are averaging 14.6 ppg.
So even without the insane outlier that is the dolphins game we are off to a much much better start
The biggest difference has been CB play outside PS2
First mcmillian in the slot, now wr have one of the best nickel triplets. Moss is like a young KJax with his tackling
I am so tired of hearing about that game. lol
Vance should be the one in this pic.
Vance Joseph is heading down the Wade Phillips/Dick LeBeau coaching career path. Both deserve to be in the HOF because of their ability to consistently create excellent defenses across multiple decades. Both will never receive consideration though because when given chances as a head coach, they were average at best.
Joseph has shown that he is one of the top DCs in the NFL right now across multiple teams. When he has left as the DC, the same players are worse the next season. As a head coach though, he failed. He might turn into a good or even great head coach, and is VERY likely to get a shot sooner rather than later, but a smart owner/team would sign him for a lot of money and tell the head coach that we have a DC in place already that they need to work with.
