Embiid is a better player. Only argument against him is health. Valid but also… doesn’t affect my opinion.

Barkley – there was a time when there was an argument who was better between him and Jordan. Joel has the better skill set but Barkley was healthier and was mentally stronger
Interesting that Barkley only made it past the second round once in his 8 seasons in Philly – and it was his rookie year, when he only started 2 playoff games. His teams were largely dogshit here though. His last season here, his center was Charles shackleford and his second best player was maybe Gumby Gilliam or Hersey Hawkins? Yikes.

Ugh. Those Barkley-Bradley uniforms were so bad.
Embiid. Barkley was an amazing player, but he was not nearly as talented as Embiid. Your floor with Embiid is a playoff team. Your floor with Barkley is the purgatory of late lottery.

Barkley took a significantly less talented roster to NBA finals, and only stayed champion-less because he couldn’t get past the jordan dynasty.
Embiid hasn’t even proven he can take us to an ecf appearance lol. Trae young hawks…injury depleted knicks..meltdowns vs the Celtics…yall crazy

This question is an indication of the age demographics of this sub. You always tend to sway towards what you see in the present. However, for those of us old enough to have watched Barkley carry dogs**t teams into the playoffs and continually run into the Bulls, you know how difficult Barkley had it. He clearly did more with less. Not to discredit Joel and what he has accomplished, but Barkley again… did more with less. As someone mentioned before there was an argument between who was better between Chuck and MJ, especially during a 3-5 year stretch from 88-93 where he was an ASG MVP, finished 2nd in MVP voting, gold medalist & leading scorer of team USA & League MVP. We are in the midst of Joel’s best stretch of basketball and if that comes anywhere close to Barkley’s we will see him move closer to the franchises greatest player.
I hate arguing players from different eras, but Chuck averaged 23/4/12 here on an up & down squad in slow grind play era. Jo-Jo is at 28/4/11 and sometimes makes it look effortless in roughly same time frame, but in an era of high tempo/ volume basketball. Chucks definitely got the mental edge, but Joel has the skillset advantage.
I would be surprised if many of the people here actually watched Charles. He was an amazing athlete and player for his size.
Overall, I would say Embiid. But I wouldn’t blame someone for saying Barkley either.

charles barkley gave me my favorite stuffed dog as a baby and hung out with my dad for a few hours while my mom was in the hospital with me (i had just been born), so he’s gonna be my favorite regardless.
