Hey everyone just had a quick question for everyone as I repeatedly keep seeing people bring up his name but what is with the obsession with Hyatt? I much like everyone here want him to develop and be good but the fact that I have seen multiple conspiracy theories about why he isn't playing over Slayton or didn't have a target last week seems sorta nuts. It unfortunately might be that he was a good college player and isn't an NFL player. Hoping that isn't the case but wanted to see what y'all think about this because I feel like people were bringing it up like a negative after a solid win last week.

He’s insanely fast so when he gets free releases he cooks. Unfortunatly that doesnt happen much in the nfl and hes not a good route runner. Slayton isnt quite as fast but hes good at getting off the line, can run every route in the tree, and is still insanely fast just not inhumanly fast like hyatt. Now that we have nabers, slayton is just better in hyatt’s role than hyatt is. If he can learn to beat press and expand his route tree he could become a huge problem for defenses, but thats just not the case rn
Daboll has a track record of giving players who give 100% effort (0or fit his play book) more playing time over others who may be more talented.
Remember Kenny Golloday and Kadarius Toney? Neither got much or any playing time despite being the most talented guys on the roster. Golloday said he should be on the field regardless…
If Hyatt isn’t getting playing time it’s because he’s either not good enough to fit into the schemes or not playing hard enough. It’s kinda telling because Slayton is definitely a better route runner and more versatile as a receiver.
Just my 2 cents.
Giants traded their 3rd and 4th round picks last year to move up for Hyatt.
This season Hyatt doesn’t even have ONE, not even a single catch, despite being healthy and active every game.
Even 3rd string TE who barely plays any snaps Daniel Bellinger has two catches.
The obsession is because he is a burner which is a very exciting archetype. Similar to desean jackson top end speed.
The problem is that he can only run streaks and is bad at normal route trees. Unfortunately jones isn’t the best at super deep throws so Hyatt is basically a one trick pony that can’t be utilized in this offense.
I think he could be decent as a one trick guy in Kansas City or with the Bengals but his obsession is ridiculous here
Easy I have the answer for you. His speed and ability to catch the deep ball gives him a huge upside. We want that upside to be reached even if at this point it’s highly unlikely he will hit any type of upside
Why not just play him at kickoff/punt returner at this point?
I don’t understand how we were able to target him last year but now all of a sudden he’s just unusable
Nabers is the clear WR1. Slayton and Robinson are at the WR2 level. Despite Hyatt being faster, he may not be the best fit for our offensive scheme. It’s puzzling why he isn’t utilized when Nabers is out.

The obsession is because he was elite in college, is insanely fast, was drafted by this current regime, AND because certain parts of this fanbase think Slayton is a bum. Slayton is far from perfect. He’s good not great at everything and he has a drop problem. I’m not going to pretend like I don’t roll my eyes every time Bobby Skinner does a victory lap every time Slayton has a good game but the reality is that the best case scenario for Hyatt is that he becomes the next Slayton. No idea what contract negotiations are going to look like but if we can get Slayton on a reasonable deal we absolutely should.
I would just put Hyatt out there and have him run go routes all game. Run a couple in a row then sub him out for someone else or get Slay or Wan’dale to switch on that DB. Then you target that DB who probably has tired legs from covering go routes at full speed.
Can’t beat out Slayton
They traded up to get him it makes no sense how he doesn’t see the field more especially with Nabers out
If they can trade him to a team that needs a WR badly I’d be ecstatic with a 3rd round pick.
It’s crazy that both him and Cedric Tillman have barely gotten any playing time in the NFL.
They were great at Tennessee and both went in the 3rd round, so you’d think the teams liked them well enough at the time.
I think a lot of people are just hopeful because he’s fast, a 3rd round pick and won the Biletnikoff in college. Realistically his release is really bad and he acts like he’s afraid of contact which is weird to me considering I don’t think he’s had any major injuries in his career before becoming a pro. On top of all of that he’s not very good with his hands, he has similar drop problems as Slayton but can’t do half as much both route running wise and after the catch as Slayton so I don’t think he has a place on this team until he improves his route running at the very least.
Just need to keep developing him.
Crazy fast but route running is his issue. He’s such a weapon if he can fix that.
He should stay ready – work hard and when he gets his chance – jump on it – it’s not rocket science
He knows how to run straight very well. That’s really it.
Doesnt deserve to wear 13
The buzz in the draft was he didn’t run the full route tree. Would think after one+ years he would have improved somewhat but that doesn’t appear to be true. He either has to work to get better or he will soon, or maybe has, have a come-to-Jesus meeting with the coaching staff. They still have him for the next two years so hopefully he improves. As they say, you cannot teach speed. I do not believe he plays special teams so his long term value seems to be diminishing.
The conspiracy theories about him not playing are crazy slayton is just better and has been consistently our best receiver for years. Not saying much and that has now changed but still deserves the no.3 spot over hyatt
Slayton is just better overall. Can run a good route tree, can impact all 3 levels of the field, but most importantly he’s a better scheme fit to play off of Leek. Hyatt is simply just a deep threat which isn’t really in Dabes play calling. As much as I want to see Hyatt at least in the rotation, I think it’s over. Robinson is now a solidified WR2 / WR3 rep wise. We gotta get Slayton a solid contract if possible, he’s really been a key to Leeks success ; due to the fact ( minus the drops , oh damn ) Slayton can still have a day if not properly game planned for. I still believe there is hope for Hyatt, maybe put him in motion? I still believe he can beat quite a few CBs with his first step, but once again ; that’s not what our offense is really built on at the moment…
He fast.
He did have a huge game vs New England last year. Looked like he had the pieces of the puzzle figured out. They just are playing slayton over him. Too many good receivers is a good problem though
Bum
He need to lift weights or eat some more potatoes and rice beans unacceptable at this pro level dude get paid to be an athlete
Looks like the assistant coach from cowboys was right after all !
There might be some attitude issues as well !
He’s just not good simple as that or if he was he’d play
Gyatt question
A Tennessee WR not winning at the catch point and running routes poorly?! Who could have seen this coming?

It’s the coordinators fault for not having plays for a player with Hyatt’s skill set. Have him in a Deebo Samuel role and he’ll cook on this offense but that’s clearly not what the Giants want from him.
He didn’t have many looks because we have better options for short/intermediate routes and Seattle has a great pass rush, currently #5 in the league with 17.
He was out there a ton and I bet he gets some looks tomorrow night.
I don’t know and others have explained well but I drafted Nabers in fantasy and picked up slayton this week, deciding to start him over other comparable options and am expecting for Hyatt to **finally** have a breakout game now because of it lol. Thinking the org may hear the chatter and decide to design a game plan around him finally.
People want him to be good since he’s a third rounder and a big play opportunity. But fact is I think at this point he’s just a gadget player. Hope he can develop into something more but until he is he shouldn’t play over those who can provide more for the team.
Wandale is such a good slot its hard to give hyatt snaps there.
nabors is a true #1.
that leaves slayton who is a decent #2 having been forced into #1 role so often due to lack of roster talent. The dude runs a sub 4.4 and has good rapport with jones.
This could be a good thing giving hyatt some time to figure it out because he clearly needs a little work getting off the snap and learning how to get open and to take the football out of the air.
In the nfl you cant just wait for it to come to you the d back is gonna take that shit.
I think he is going to get better and it might not be as a giant even but i hope it is. I dont see slayton being here much longer with all the talent we have at wr on rookie money. Unless he keeps playing for reasonable pay.
Maybe he will break out soon.
I’ll see how the season play out but like you do wonder wtf going on there. Currently all just speculation
