  1. Clingan with the double-double and Scoot with 17 points, 7 assists, and most importantly, only 1 turnover. That was a fun game to watch. Hilarious that we finally win a pre-season game against an NBA team and Chauncey isn’t here.

  2. Blazers have officially secured their first preseason win against an NBA team in the Chauncey era.

    They were 0-12 until today.

  3. Clingan was definitely the highlight. He’s going to be flirting with some all-defense teams at some point. Him and the leap Toumani has clearly taken

Hopefully Deni’s shot last year was real, if it was he’s one of the best contracts in the NBA

Scoot unfortunately looks like the exact same person as last year. Seems like he’s a bit more balanced/explosive but still has no idea hot to create easier looks at the rim. I hope he gets a new team around him or something. Someone has to get through to him to change the way he drives or he’s going to be shooting 40% at the rim again.

  4. Damn that was an ugly game lol

The half court defense looks pretty good — Scoot is out of position a lot and gambles, but the rest of that starting lineup is really nice on D. The transition defense is absurdly bad.

Offensively, another good game for Ayton and Camara. Scoot scored more here but didn’t alleviate any of the concerns, his handle is still loose and he drives with no plan or recourse (and still wants to use his right hand on the left side). Deni struggled on offense but rebounded well. Clingan looks alright — can’t really catch on the roll right now but he sets great screens and rebounds.

  5. Listen I’m not a doomer or hater but scoot is still using the right on easy left finishes. He does look a lot better this game however so that’s great

  6. Scoot Henderson is just gonna be fine.

Clingan is a bigger version of Hartenstein with better passing.

  7. Camara looks scary good. He improved his handle to be able to attack a close out better now and he is strong enough to hold his spot and has always been at finishing with either hand. Think he will shoot north of 37% from 3 this year too. We finally got our OG!!! I SAID IT

  8. Fire Billups. Fuck the draft, these players need a real coach. They are missing out on development with a guy who has no redeeming qualities

  9. The game was chaotic but the chaos actually benefits them. Played with great activity defensively. Like the effort Ayton is playing with. Deni makes a real difference on defense and he’s a fantastic connector on the offensive end.

Scoot was in attack mode and there was a lot of ups and downs. But the ups were high, we saw some better PG play from him as the game went on. The perimeter shooting is still sketchy but he is hard to keep in front. A lot to be encouraged by, still things to work on, but the talent is obvious.

Hopefully Jabari is OK, he does a lot of things well and is important on the defensive end.

Toumani is a fucking beast and as he continues to gain comfort as a shooter he’s gonna be someone who really ties in his offensive game and is able to potentially be a 5th starter down the line. His defense was excellent today. Clingan makes a big impact as a defender and with his catch radius offensively, and makes very good reads on kickouts, can pass off the roll in the PnR. He’s a fast processor on the floor in general on both ends. I agree though with u/spittafan that I wouldn’t call Clingan the best PnR big yet as a scorer..needs to just get stronger. Stronger frame and stronger with the ball. Got pushed around at times by Len on the boards and defensively.

Banton was not playing winning basketball but really toned it down and started making the right reads. He has the ability to slither into the lane and pressure the rim, and he needs to use that to make plays for teammates as well and he did a better job of it as the game went on.

Really like a lot of what we saw, knowing that the offense will be far better with Ant. They need Ant, make no mistake about it. Tisse and Timelord will aid the defense. The Opening Night team has every ability to be more than competitive and it’ll start on the defensive end. Get stops and get out and run. That’s their DNA. They have four guys in Ant/Scoot/Deni/Jerami who can create a shot, which pressures the defense and generates fouls. That’s how they’re gonna win this year.

  10. I agree about the concerns on Scoot, I don’t think he necessarily showed different skills/etc. but more so grew more comfort in what he’s comfortable in doing. He’s gonna have to develop more counters with his dribble, more counters in how he operates on the floor, because he is quite predictable at the moment, which is what causes the turnovers, the jump passing, tunnel vision on drives, etc…he’s got a lot to fix, but we saw the ability in the second half to probe the defense and make the correct reads. Being able to run the PnR with the correct timing on his passes.

The bar isn’t high. It can’t be with the season he’s had. And first 5.5 quarters of preseason he displayed up to a better stint afterward. But what you do like to see is a bit more assertiveness. The ability to get to the teeth of the defense is a talent. He did a bit better job today in drawing fouls. His floater is still pretty inaccurate. We wanna see him get to the rim more. Then when he gets there, draw fouls, or make the kickout. If he’s in attack mode, it does help cover for some of the weaknesses. Attacking with a plan, but we do wanna see him be assertive.

  11. Mike Brown is literally coaching the media in the post game press conference… giving amazing answers.

  12. The nba sub reddit is a cesspool of negativity aimed at both clingan and scoot for some reason

  13. I hope the Scoot haters had a terrible night. /s

(But seriously, I hope we get more of this Henderson and less of the Gm 1 version.)
