Pettis not getting renewed.

Now I’m sad.

  1. For anyone not on X:

Bob Nightengale: Gary Pettis, one of the finest third base coaches (and people) in the game, has been let go by the Houston Astros after 10 years on the job. Pettis, a 5-time Gold Glove center fielder as a player,
has been an MLB coach for 27 years. The Astros are not renewing his contract.

  2. I was not expecting this but to be honest there was some idiotic sends to home from him this year. I wish him the best.

  3. IIRC, he was supposed to leave last year and join the Angels coaching staff, but Espada convinced him to stay.

Best of luck to the windmill man.

  4. I’m not shocked, he was gonna go to the angels last year but Joe asked him to stay one more year for his contract and he agreed

  5. This feels like the first of several impactful moves we’re going to see this offseason, both the coaching staff and players.
