The Golden Ages

Went to this game with my older brother when I was a young buck. Club box seats were awesome. Marlins ended up winning 5-3 but it was a fun game. Alomar, Palmeiro, Surhoff, Davis, Ripken 98 team was stacked with hitters.

  1. I was 11 that year. Davis’s 1998 was fun. Came back from colon cancer. The hitting in 98 I remember was quite good but the starting pitching outside Mussina and Benitez just wasn’t a closer for us though he had some good years after leaving us.

  2. Sad now that tickets are electronic and I can’t hang anything up on the wall to remind me of fun times.

  3. Entering that season, people thought the Orioles’ window was closing. Turns out, it had already shut. They were the oldest team in baseball and Ray Miller just wasn’t cut out for it. They rallied back into contention late, then crumbled down the stretch.

Individually, though, Davis and Palmeiro had huge years.
