Cleveland Guardians lose sloppy game in opener of their ALCS with the Yankees

The Cleveland Guardians pitchers did not allow the Yankees to get a single hit with runners in scoring position. Unfortunately, they did give up two solo HR’s and allowed to other runners to score on wild pitches and they were defeated in the Bronx in the first game of the ALCS, 5-2.

  1. The wild pitches and poor blocking by Naylor are ugly, but the walks are the problem. Cobb looked washed up. What is he? 38 years old? Why was he the choice when Lively was solid most of the season?

  2. Naylor’s need to ride the bench. Not just lack of performance it’s the body language, they look like their head is somewhere else. I’ll argue Bo cost us the game behind the plate.

  3. Playoff baseball requires players to step up just once. I believe the guardians have the potential to do this and it’s going to be a long, anxiety filled series. I wouldn’t be down on this team until the last moment is in the books.

  4. You have to have an offense that reliably scores 5+ runs a game to have a good shot at beating the Yanks in a long series. Unfortunately, with Cleveland it appears that from time-to-time goblins sneak into the clubhouse between games and swap out our bats with pool noodles.

  5. Dude we look bad but if cantillo doesn’t throw dirt balls that lead to home runs we maybe have a chance at the end very bad pitching move there Yankees got lucky again they shoulda lost to the royals

  6. I think that Cobb/Williams comes down to what kind of pitchers they are. Yankees are a fly ball team with the short porch in right. Cobb keeps the ball on the ground. Williams is strikeout or fly ball. Don’t play into their strengths especially with how homer prone Williams has been this year.
