  1. Shad’s had the weirdest luck with hires. The only hire that was objectively a miss at the time was the Urban hire.

Gus Bradley was seen as a young up and coming HC after being a hot DC in Seattle

Doug Marrone was one the player rallied around after Gus was fired

    Urban was a shitshow

Doug was seen as a QB whisperer who could develop a winner after he won a Super Bowl in Philly.

His GM hires are also interesting:

Dave Caldwell was seen as an up and coming GM at the time.

Trent Baalke was seen as a good GM who had his flaws but could build a good team if he got along with the HC

Then hiring Coughlin was such a bad move that everyone saw at the time as Coughlin’s a great coach but a shitty executive so hiring him in an executive role was a horrible move that cost the team dearly.

EDIT: So of the seven hires he’s made as owner, two were bad at the time (Urban, Coughlin), one was mid (Doug M), and the other four were seen as solid at the time. And that’s what makes this all maddening. It’s just been amazingly shitty luck nothing has panned out.

  2. You can’t blame shad, he invests the money whenever he’s been asked to by baalke, he invested money into the stadium and the city, he’s trusted the people he hired to make team decisions, and he’s Al least giving those people chances to get it right. Could be tepper and fire people left and right. Can’t build a culture when the culture changes every season because of a new head coach
