  1. Biggest concern for me is that the Dodgers haven’t had to use their three best relievers at all, while the Mets have used basically everyone in the first two games.

Also, Alvarez hasn’t hit a lick lately, I think they might give Torrens a start in one of the middle three games to give him some rest.

  2. The G2 opener game was a gamble, clearly Dave thought they could ambush the Mets who barely could get in breakfast to shake off a bad G1 loss.

Dodgers and specifically Kiké had chances but stuck with hero ball swings even with 2-strikes when he just needed a knock.

Manaea is a problem going forward. Quite amazing that a 32-year old vet can revamp his approach and angle.

Dodgers are NOT a cold weather team. 2018 WS vibes. How’s the NY weather?

  3. Questions, if someone has a minute, i’d appreciate it

Bullpen = Reserves /not star players? It this term used only for pitchers?

    Is “bullpen” different from “relievers”?

It is common for a pitcher when faced with a known good player to throw 4 balls on purpose, to rather let him walk for free to first base instead of him possibly managing a good hit?

  4. The Dodgers got cocky. They played with house money, trying to line up starters for future games, and got burned. The fact that Knack started the third inning tells you this was an opener game and no string of high leverage arms were going to be spent.

New series now. My prediction: The first team compelled to use a broken Senga or a rookie Knack will lose the series.

  5. With Alvarez at the plate, there is an implication that an opposing pitcher might be in danger. Of course he is not hurting these pitchers, he would never do that. But still they will be careful, because of the implication

  6. I can’t focus at work right now. I need to know how long until Ohtani’s next at bat.

  7. How do Mets fans feel about Quintana vs Yamamoto for G4? Seems like the mirror converse of G2?

  8. Really feels like both of these teams are going to struggle pitching a seven game series

  9. I was less worried a few hours after the game after I did a bit of thinking.

    1. The 33 innings of scoreless pitching made a lot of people, including me, temporarily forget that we still have pitching depth issues. That got exposed a bit, though I was surprised how well Honeywell and Henriquez did.

    2. I’m not going to hate on Knack. He didn’t have it today, and the Mets offense wasn’t going to be cold forever. Without Knack this season, I don’t know where we’d be. Possibly bounced in a wild card round? Who knows.

    3. If the bats and luck had been there, no doubt Dave would’ve deployed Treinen/Kopech/Hudson to secure the win. It was a calculated gamble, and a decent one. Just didn’t translate into a win.

    4. A 7 game series means a slightly different strategy. There’s less anxiety than in the DS (though the specific rivalry/recent history is probably a bigger factor of why I alternated between constipation and machine gun sharting last week).

    5. I didn’t think a win was likely against Manaea. I know a bit less about the other Mets starters, but I’m going to pencil in a L for the Dodgers in his next start. Hoping the pitching matchups will be more favorable.
