On October 15, 1989, Wayne Gretzky became the highest scoring player in NHL history when he recorded his 1,851st point against his former team, the Edmonton Oilers. Gretzky then scored the game-winning goal 3:24 into overtime for a 5-4 win for the Kings.

  2. We had pork chops that night and watched this game on TV trays in the living room. I still remember that night to this day. One take away was how the crowd cheered, even when the game was tied and won by LA in OT. Class act that city, sometimes. 🙂
