Giants focused on scouting expertise, not past GM experience in hunt for Posey lieutenant

some of the names in here are pretty bleak, people with ties to the pre-pandemic royals and nationals’ front offices that were pretty notoriously bad at drafting and development
The fact that they have not reached out to Kim Ng or Thad Levine is concerning.
Going into a season with a POBO with no experience and a GM with no experience is not exactly filling me with confidence.
I’m pretty sure that everyone currently employed by the Giants is scouring every form of social media and whoever has the hottest hot take and most viscous burn will be interviewed immediately.
It’s possible that this isn’t an ideal job for a lot of people. Hope they find a really good fit, but it might be some unorthodox choice.
Probably bc they dont believe, or have been made aware, they will take a job that isnt a POBO. Or that they don’t want to be the 2nd in command to someone they are more qualified than?
The Giants are kind of in a tough spot with hiring Posey as the POBO; I hope it works out obviously but its going to be tough. Obviously they knew that going with a totally inexperienced POBO was a huge risk, and still made the decision so they clearly have faith in Posey. But the optics from the outside will make it tough. Current GMs cant be IV bc it’s not a promotion. Former high level execs may not want to play 2nd fiddle to someone with no experience. And if they do manage to hire some up and coming genius of a GM who does a great job, they will immediately lose them to any team that is hiring its next POBO.
Just relieved they aren’t interested in Kim Ng. The Marlins team that got a wild card was a complete fluke. Finished 84-78 with a run differential of -57.

It sounds as though Owens already has the gig.
