  1. 4 games in and we’ve already cycled through Forbort, Desharnais, Juulsen, and now Brannstrom.

I feel like we should have given Cole the money rather than pay both Forbort and Desharnais. At least Cole was a very good 3D for us for long stretches.

  2. I jokingly responded to someone yesterday about how Brannstrom isn’t the answer to our woes, but he honestly couldn’t hurt at this point. Any sort of puck movement from the 3rd pair would be a breath of fresh air.

  3. 3 assists in 2 games… per Abby watchers he’s been very solid, and offensively super strong (dangling all over the place)

Let’s see what he can do

  4. At this point, why not. The blue line after Quinn Hughes and Hronek has been really bad, and they need someone who can move the puck quickly out of the zone.

  5. Hard to be worse than Juulsen, Desharnais and Forbort. Like actually hard to be worse than those players. And it’s even rather difficult to be worse than Myers, but half our D are.

  6. Brannstrom is an NHL level Dman who can more than win his minutes in a 3rd pair role. One look at his games in Abby lets everyone know he doesn’t belong there.

Pair him with Forbort and let him cook. Excited to see some connectivity on all 3 pairs instead whatever the fuck Forbort-Juulsen was.

  7. Definitely a “plan b” approach for the Canucks. I think it was well understood that the org wanted Brannstrom to stew in the AHL a little longer to understand the Org’s system. Canucks are rightfully understanding our Defense is inadequate.

  8. Brannstrom-Desharnais is an interesting 3rd pair on paper. Forbort has been meh at 5v5, but good on the PK. Only seeing Desharnais in one game still leaves me curious.

Then I don’t know what people or the Canucks see in Juulsen at this point. Nearly every game he tries to lay a massive hit which leaves him completely out of position and he makes a lot of little mistakes every game too. Not a fan of his game anymore.

  9. They need Tocc to just keep the top pairings together… the third and fourth need to stay in the third and fourth lines

  10. Sure but where’s Demko?? The whole summer wasn’t enough to get him back on the ice, after they said he would play in the playoffs if the canucks progressed? Up is down this season man I swear.

  11. I think put D was better last year, but let’s be honest, our goaltending and offence was MUCH better. It made up for our D. This year, not so much

  12. Name a better combination than Canucks management and ignoring our D for marginal forward improvements

  13. I have a feeling that he is going to fit in very well here. Juulsen is unfortunately having a tough start to the season. Another defensemen who can skate and move the puck to play beside one of our giants, will be incredibly useful.

The transition game outside Hughes has not been good for us, very hard to create offense if we’re mot transitioning the puck well.
