  1. Scoot looked so good, I know it’s against weaker opposition but really promising to see him dominate against them.

    You just know how negative this sub would have been if he didn’t play well.

  2. i just finished watching the game. loose thoughts:

    * before the game i predicted scoot would look like GLI scoot and that was the case. he was able to get into the lane against the less physical ulm, they didn’t pick off his passes, and he had some nice finishes inside against the less capable big men. i do not mean to denigrate his performance — he looked really good against the weaker competition, which is what you want to see. he had a nice catch and shoot three without any load-up dribble. he also had some very nice lobs to toumani and DC. he’s such a smart passer.
    * rupert looked absolutely awful the first half. couldn’t dribble, made several really dumbfounding turnovers. he was a lot better the second half. it’s true that he’s gotten better at dribbling, despite the first half mishaps.
    * toumani — i really agree with the narrative that he’s become a more physical player. he is also working on a drive game, which goes well with his physicality. he can bully his way to the rim. in typical toumani fashion he is always at the right place at the right time. what a find.
    * i am loving watching deni avdija. he is a creative player. and on a team full of young guys it is nice to watch a vet organize guys. i love watching him come up off pindowns — a lot of different outcomes are possible from it, like curling to the rim, finding cutters, or whipping across to a shooter. it’s going to be a good action for us this year. he’s also really complementary to scoot. there’s a lot to be said about your secondary handler being a forward instead of another guard.
    * speaking of avdija, ayton seems to have a great chemistry with him. they worked a lot on getting lobs out of several different kinds of actions. they also joked between plays and seem to have a good rapport. it seems like avdija knows how to get ayton going.
    * clingan was really slow. he doesn’t have great hands in my opinion. i remember przybilla would vacuum up rebounds. with clingan there’s a lot of clanking around to hold the ball. he also was not good finishing at the rim. shades of jusuvan clingic.
    * i hope we run this much the whole year.
    * we suck at shooting.
    * i think this team could finally be in the Cool Zone of sucking but being fun to watch.
