  1. Somehow this is going to make even more people want to sign him to a big contract after this season

  2. No wonder people love this dude.

I will defend Ben for all time, but even when he said these kinds of ‘right attitude’ things in press conferences, you could tell there was a little more bite behind them.

  3. This kid has a great attitude, tough to not root for him.

Best case scenario: Russ balls out as starter, fields continues development this season, maybe gets in some packages in some games, and we are confident moving forward with him as a longer-term/bridge QB next year.

  4. We have no history or financial ties to Russ. He was always going to see the field at some point this year, barring JF coming out looking like prime Cam Newton. Russ is also very easy to move on from, especially before the bye, so why not see what he offers? Nobody has been blown away by JF the passer yet.

  5. Damn dudes got a great head on his shoulders. I would love for him to be our franchise if he develops.

  6. Pickens could learn a thing or two from Fields about how to present yourself and hold yourself accountable.

  7. And this attitude here is why the dude will be re-signed next year. Dude does enough to win, has the ability to make even basic offenses dangerous, AND knows he isn’t playing well enough to outright earn the job? If I’m Tomlin, I’m probably gonna let Russ cook, but I’m 100% re-signing Justin. I feel he’s the future for at least a few years. If he can learn on the bench and focus on all the little things that he can’t focus on when he’s leading the offense. Dude has a bright future and watching and learning from Russ can only help elevate him.

  8. Love this guy. He’s improved so much from last year.

I hope he can be our guy for the future and live up to his potential.

  9. Don’t think anyone should be worried about his confidence or anything like that after this. Justin is going to be just fine.

  10. He has a great attitude and he seems like a great kid.

He’d be the perfect bridge QB if they can find their next franchise guy in the next year or two.

  11. What a refreshing attitude. Not just from a professional athlete, but from a human being in general. Great energy for anyone to strive for.

  12. Very mature. He is a great backup in this league and will last a long time. He just isn’t a starter.

  13. I want this kid to succeed so bad. And I legitimately don’t think he’s done much wrong this season. Our WR room is light, our run game has been inconsistent, and our O-line has been a revolving door.

Fields’ attitude has been a breath of fresh air. If he maintains that and the team gives him a weapon or two aside from Pickens, I legit believe he can have a long future here. At least I hope.

  14. He has played good. Better than Pickett that’s for sure. He will only get better. Russell Wilson needs to show up and play even better than Justin to justify his starting role. I for one hope he does, he has a great supporting cast around him, except for the line. Let’s hope he can beat the Jets

  15. I thought he didn’t play well and Russ needs to start.

Him saying it, a lot of respect for Justin for recognizing his play level.

With that mentality he is gonna improve every year

  16. Justin Fields has always been a good dude. At the age of 25, we should be making him our long term QB. I think he is ready to take a step up in his production.

  17. I really hope we have our future QB1 here. Love his attitude about all this. Hopefully Russ can teach him a few things and he gets more comfortable slinging it downfield.

  18. There you go guys, you fan boys gotta take a deep breath. He’s accepted and claimed responsibility for lack luster play.

  19. He’ll get his shot again. He seems humble and self aware. Good to see. Rooting for him!

  20. I’m here because of Russ and seeing him get a raw deal in Denver. I’m pretty confident in saying that Russ is still probably better than Fields but I have been impressed by Fields on and off the field. He has made big jumps in his decision making I really noticed it vs the Chargers. Just because you want to see someone succeed doesn’t mean you have to trash the other guy.

  21. It is genuinely so easy to root for the guy, and the flashes he shows make you really wish he can put it all together and be a dude. I hope he does, and I hope it happens here, but that being said if Russ is the better option for now then that’s the choice to make as tough as it is to say as a Fields fan.

Not to bring up The Other Guy again but what a difference between this and what supposedly happened at the end of last year

  22. Pure maturity. While he’s on the sidelines, maybe he can spend some time with GP and teach him how to act like an adult.

  23. Everyone forgets what it’s like to have a franchise QB, and everyone is dropping their panties over Fields acting like a professional. Fields is a great guy. There’s no doubt about that, but at the end of the day, he is an average QB at best. Yeah, Fields is better than Pickett and Trubisky. That’s a pretty low bar to clear. Fields is what he is. He’s a guy who is incredibly athletic, who will make the spectacular plays, but at the same time will struggle to make the routine plays. The same problems that plagued him in Chicago are plaguing him here. He’s in his fourth year, not his first or second. Just because Fields has a great attitude doesn’t mean he deserves a long-term contract extension. The Steelers should not be shelling out tons of money to keep him around. If the goal is to win the Super Bowl with this aging defense, it’s not going to be with Justin Fields.

  24. Love the attitude. Hopefully he also realizes that he is getting benched for a future HoFer. It’s not like he isnt being benched for Kenny Pickett. Still has a lot of potential to learn from Russ and be great

  25. Humility. I love this guy. I have a buddy who is a big Bears fan, and he said Fields was rushed too much at Chicago. Fields will learn a ton watching Wilson. Mentorship. Love it!
