[Shams] Thunder say Isaiah Hartenstein suffered a small, non-displaced fracture in his left hand in Tuesday’s preseason game in Denver and will be re-evaluated in five-to-six weeks.

  1. Unfortunate but if we get injury karma for last year I’d rather it be now than in the playoffs.

  2. We quite literally don’t have a backup centre right now lol 😂 we are going to see dieng small ball 5 in actually games until JWil is back 😬

  3. Sucks but we’ll have him back by December which is fine. Rather deal with injuries now than in April

  4. I mean I’d rather this happen now than literally any other time in the season but still damn that’s sad

  5. Universe is aligning for Dieng’s breakout season it seems….. that, or Collison to take that #4 jersey outta retirement

  6. Damn sad to read, I was really excited for the beginning of the season to see Ihart cook. I guess better now than later on but sad anyway.

  7. Hope we don’t spend all this year paying the price for our injury luck last year

Hartenstein’s ultimately a luxury, the team should still be talented enough to take down Denver in Denver. They were able to do it twice last year with this team minus Caruso (and plus Giddey).
    I want to die regardless

  8. Anyone know ow when jwill will be back i really don’t want to see dieng in meaningful minutes.

  9. Brutal but we’ll basically be running what we did last season with Caruso instead lolollol

  10. I’m going to opening night in Denver for my wife’s first Thunder game. Her favorite player is J-Will and will be wearing his jersey. Here’s to hoping he can play. I’m sad we won’t see IHart yet, though.

  11. Much rather have him miss 15 games at the start of the season than during playoffs.

  12. Disappointing, but I’d rather have it happen and take care of it now. Opportunity for some young guys to step up. Excited to see if anyone does so.

  13. People keep saying Dieng at small ball 5 just because he is tall. He has played the position for like.. never? And he isn’t particularly good in his best position ( wing)?

  14. I know people are not high on Ous, but he’s been alright defensively in preseason. We just need someone to soak up the back up big minutes defensively until JWill get back. Ous needs to make the most of this opportuntiy.

We have enough scoring across the roster. And even iHart is not going to be some 20ppg guy for us anyway scheme wise. So we don’t need Ous’s shaky offensive game to transform overnight. We just need him to provide some size against backup bigs so that Chet is not worn down again over a whole season.

  15. Disappointing for him and the team, but as long as J-Will is ready soon we should be able to handle this like we did all last year.

  16. Important time to note that Ousmane Dieng is not a center and the team would legitimately be better off playing Alex Caruso at the 5 than him.

  17. Too tall, too strong, too handy. He’ll be back in plenty of time to gel. It sucks but its a good thing it happened so early in the season.

  18. I hate when people are like we’d rather deal with it now than have an injury later…. Like that’s not how injuries work unfortunately

  19. This situation could have been avoided by drafting 1 (one) center with any of the picks instead of Topic, Jones or Mitchell.

Kel’El Ware was such an obvious target both in range and fit and he looked awesome so far…
