Secondary Scoring Becoming An Issue for the New York Islanders This Season

We also discuss the Isles issues with secondary scoring as the bottom six forwards are really struggling to score.

And we preview Saturday’s home game against the Montreal Canadiens as the Isles look to get back on the winning track.

  1. Second straight season isles shut out at blows and typical 1-1-1 trip for isles. That is just life for isles with a louzer as gm. Not enough $$$'s to pay depth guys who can score (like a sprong type who sat there all off-season) as overpaid bums like 44 and 27 waste away eating $12 mil. in cap space again this season. Can't expect 13, 14, and 29 to do all of the goal scoring every game. 10 sucks and 26 on the 4th line is a joke. Even putting 21 with 13, 14 and 7, 11, with 29 isles could score no goals even with 30 keeping isles in the game. 4 gp, 10 g scored, 2.5 gpg avg. 2 g from bottom six. And this is without useless 18 not wasting a roster spot. Not one g from 26, 32, 53. No g from d men. And pp is non-existent with one pp g so far. Isles offense once again swims or sinks with 13, 14, 29, and whatever 11, 21 throw in. Pretty pathetic louzer's uneven rosterbation is. Only a matter of time before an east riser or two passes isles in east. And lalonde is on a short leash with wings so after another loss to rags his leash is shorter as yzerman contemplates an early season move to coach q. giving wings the proven coach they need.
I know its still early but offense is always problematic with isles because louzer can't sign, trade for, or draft difference makers up front. The guys you pay the big $$$'s to, not 30+ bottom sixers.

  2. The game was a snooze fest, not fun to watch. This game reminded me of last year. Try harder…and ffs get the power play fixed already.

  3. Early reminder of last season, Patrick Roy needs to fix this team immediately, but no matter how good a Poker player is he is only as strong as the cards he was dealt, Lou Lamarillo is just another general manager to come along and destroy this franchise, thank you Gil, I’m going to Saturday night Game hopefully they’ll beat the Habs, LGI !!!

  4. Agreed on the boring game Gil. Stayed up to watch it anyway. You’re right about the ice there. Seemed to be wet like the puck was sticking at times.

  5. Horvat scoring drought is killing them but its early. Yes most shots kept outside. Duke giving great passes but Horvat snake bit right now. Was a tough road trip but never quit. Saw Barzal leads league in end to end rushes with McDavid. Maybe he will have more in tank if they stop relying on him to do that so much.

  6. Good job Gil!
Last year we lose that game and gain zero points. Gotta take the point and be somewhat happy I guess.
Not worried about our 4th line they’ll figure it out. The 3rd line is making me nervous, JGP needs to drive that line for it to be successful, still early.

  7. Gm Gil. The game lacked flow with numerous turnovers including the one that resulted in the loss in OT. Horvat's play was the most unpleasant of surprises last night. Watching special teams play you have to conclude that some of these players are not coachable

  8. Good 🌄 Gil, how are you? The Islanders not only lost in OT again, but they got shut out, leaving St. Louis singing the blues, plenty of pun intended. I have a feeling Patrick Roy's going to play chess with the lines to get the rest of the lines going because Barzy, Bo and the Duke CAN'T DO IT ALL. Hero Ilya Sorokin he played a good solid game. 🐐 community effort offensively, especially when it comes to the PP. They've only scored 10 goals, 6 of them while beating CO. They play Montreal tomorrow. So far, they're playing like the flying Frenchmen who last won the Stanley Cup back in 1993 while Patrick Roy was the goalie. Now I know the season is only 4 games old, but I'm not panicing. If they're not better after 6 weeks, then I'll panic. HAPPY 🎂, BRIAN LEFLY 1948-1997. Hear from you later, Gil, and LET'S GO ISLANDERS.
