The Edmonton Oilers choices in the off-season, through training camp and into the early part of this season are the key reasons why they’ve stumbled out of the gate.

  1. Look the Dallas game we had a pretty good game until the end of the 2nd. McDavid is point a game. Draisaitl is just under point a game. That, while low for them, is the way it is right now.

  2. Saturday Mountain Daylight Time featured twin respective 4-1 losses by the Oilers and Leafs to the Dallas Stars and NY Rangers. While there's no doubt that Jake Oettinger and Igor Shesterkin are good goalies, neither Canadian team found enough ways to score on either goalie (a major difference having been that the Leafs allowed 2 empty-net goals within the last minute or so of the game while the Oilers allowed their third and fourth goals of that weekend game when Stu Skinner had been in net) and those games won't be the last ones this regular season to feature ether Canadian team against another playoff-calibre one other than the other Canadian one. This regular season so far has been rather interesting, was it still very much DVD how many of Canada's teams will see playoff action come April.

  3. I bet the OIL could have signed BROBERG to a 3 mil a year deal. WHY let a young player who was on your run last year go ???? He played good last playoffs and showed he can play .. SO GIVE UP ON HIM ???? The OIL misplayed this one BIG TIME. Now look, ANOTHER BIG MESS. That isnt going away any time soon.

  4. We’d of been better off trading Bouchard for a first round draft pick or more and keeping Ceci and Broberg. Probably won’t be able to afford Bouchard after this season anyways.

  5. Wasn't Broberg blocked from playing in the NHL earlier because of the Kulak contract? As for the slow start, Oilers are a high skilled team, not a grinding, checking team, therefore it takes a few weeks to get the big guns engines going to produce the lethal offence the Oilers are a custom too….

  6. Oiler management have made a number of questionable moves all focused at throwing a boatload of money at Drai…who has been nothing but disappointing thus far. The entire Broberg situation just makes me furious knowing that if they simply had kept him out of a meaningless game 82 last season he wouldn't even have been offer sheet eligible, that in itself is absolutely terrible roster management!

  7. a year ago broberg for a pack of gum would be welcomed,,,,coulda woulda shoulda. the cire is intact quit being a bunch of babies and do your job. Honestly what is different significantly in the lineup today vs game 7 last year?

  8. Looking at counting numbers doesn’t tell the story. He has been absolutely caved in defensively and has a shots for and against of 25%. He is getting caved. Problem with the oilers is goaltending. Campbell, when deemed unplayable- had a .873 save %. Skinner has an .850 right now, the oilers are one of the top teams in limitingbhigh danger chances against and our goaltending duo has the lowest HD save% in the league. Skinner is the second worst goalie per save %. Your analysis is horrendous. The oilers are limiting shots against while generating shots for. Defense isn’t the problem. Finishing and goaltending are
