GAME RECAP: Penguins at Jets (10.20.24) | Lars Eller Scores Twice

The Penguins travelled north to Winnipeg as they begin their Western Canada road trip. Alex Nedeljkovic made his season debut in this contest following a conditioning stint with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton in the AHL. After an opening period with no goals, the scoring started in the 2nd. Kevin Hayes netted his third goal of the year after he was able to escape coverage and put the puck past Winnipeg netminder Comrie. Lars Eller added to the lead under four minutes later by going to the front of the net and scoring on a rebound. Winnipeg then recorded the next three goals of the period, taking a 3-2 lead into the 3rd period. Eller tallied once again near the beginning of the period, but that would be all the Penguins would get. Lowry, Appleton, and Niederreiter found the back of the net for the home team, resulting in a 6-3 final score in favor of the Jets.

  1. Defense is weak AF. No physical play at all in our own zone. Not just one or two defenseman. The entire defense looks slow, soft and clueless at times. Unless things change, it will be a looong season.😕
