  1. The Steelers are a solid team. Very respectable franchise. They blocked two kicks. They got two takeaways. They held NY to zero points in the second half. They ran the ball effectively. Pickens came up BIG on 50/50 balls. The result would've been the same had Fields started. It's a promising start to Russ' tenure but don't crown yourselves yet. They used him in a very specific way. The more Smith puts on tape, the more other teams will adjust. It'll be fun to see how it plays out in late November and December.

  2. It made sense to start Fields when he took all the first team reps all preseason since you know, Russ was injured. But Russ played with a confidence and certainty Fields and other QBs post Ben have been lacking. Like Tomlin I appreciate Fields stepping in and not turning the ball over but he needs more time to get comfortable in his new situation. Russ is the better guy if we're wanting to win now and I feel confident in him immediately. I never felt at any point with Fields that he was "the guy" over his 6 starts. Teams didn't respect his arm so they always have a player spy him for his legs but that also means there's often an extra guy in the box for actual run plays. Not turning the ball over is nice but the complete inability to sustain drives let alone score points was never going to translate into playoff success. I'd gladly take Russ for another 1-2 years if he plays out this year well. Fields is still so young and will be better next season if he sits and learns this year. It's all upside for the Steelers. Loved the energy the team had all night. And if Pickens gives that kind of effort because he believes Russ can get him those tough catches then I'm all for it even more. He's been lifeless more often than not otherwise this season.

  3. Russ played great, but it was against the Jets. What happens when they start playing real NFL teams? If he plays well against the Commanders and Ravens, then we can talk about him being back.

  4. “Haven’t seen Russ cook in a while” 2023 stats with broncos 26 TD 8 picks. Stop paying attention to headlines and actually watch football

  5. I think both QBs are in a good position Russ may only have 1 or 2 years left at most but Fields can sit and learn like Jordan Love did and this will make him a better QB when he can read defenses better. I just hope Fields can hang on until he gets his time to shine

  6. Man Russ cadence and control at the line was amazing.he hasn't played a regular season game in 10 months. New team new wrs new scheme. Wait til Wilson deep ball gets dialed in. He under threw Pickens but again first game in 10 months new team new wrs that timing is expected to be off

  7. Rich the Steelers know how to treat Russell . You would have ripped h I m apart if he had performed badly this past Sunday . Mike knows that encouragement heals . Unlike you . Steeler fans let Russell love you .

  8. Russell's first game since last year, only having practice field snaps and throws, did full 1st team practice this week and people act surprised that some of his passes fell short and wasn't 100% in line with his recievers ans they had to compensate…but that touch in his passing is something Fields just does not have yet, if he'll ever have it. It'll likely just get better from here. Steelers are in a good spot, having two guys with vastly different tool sets that could be utilized.

  9. I want Russell to do well. He has a nice style and makes the game more exciting. He might be weirdly nice, but I’ll take that over toxic divas any day.

  10. Let's be critical and honest. Every single deep shot Russ threw was under thrown, and Pickens bailed him out. Kudos for attempting those, I don't think his ball placement is going to be sustainable.

  11. The only thing shocking here is not Wilson playing just like Wilson, but all the media talking heads acting like Wilson has to "live up to" Justin Fields play. Did nobody ever WATCH Justin play? Did you not ever notice that he misses wide open receivers, which is maybe why he rarely ever even tried the deep ball? Nobody counted his lack of touchdown passes or lack of yardage? You know that Wilson had a bad year last year, right? Where he threw for 26 touchdowns in 15 games and ran for 3 more? Fields was on pace for 14, but the tough schedule is coming up, so, he might have only managed 11-12, but he was not going to keep winning at that rate, not against Washington or Kansas City or Baltimore, TWICE.

I realize, everyone on T.V. or YouTube has to act like everything is SHOCKING, to boost their ratings. but, since everyone was saying how GOOD Fields was, and what I was SEEING was not a top 10 quarterback, not top 15, but somewhere around 20th-23rd best starter out there. Ask me if I would rather have the washed up, tossed aside Baker Mayfield or the dynamic 180 yards and no touchdown throwing Justin Fields? I am taking Mayfield, seriously, don't laugh.

There was no "battle" with the front office in Pittsburg either, Wilson was NAMED as the starter, got hurt, returned when he recovered and after 6 games, Justin tossed, what 5 touchdowns?

And one last thought, when Wilson took the field and showed a lot of rust, after 11 months off, media types ran to the computer to file a "he is horrible" reports. It was not even half time and they decided they were right and all the facts staring at them in the face was wrong.

Well, one person had it right, Justin Fields, he KNEW he was not playing like a hall of famer.

  12. Hey Rich, just want to remind you that the Jets suck, and so don’t the Dolphins. And also the Bills still reign supreme in the AFC east… Which is the exactly opposite of what you said would happen before the season, and it’s our responsibility to remind you just how wrong you were. Not gonna let you off the hook for this one. You had an obvious horrible take, just like so many of your media contemporaries.
