It’s playoff time.
LG got the win in Game 3 to send it to Game 4. The game was not of the exciting variety, with it ending in a 1-0 victory for LG. Samsung sent out what was basically a bullpen starter in a clinching game and he didn’t give up any runs because LG continues to try to play small ball, without actually hitting the ball.
Samsung will try and end this series at 4 games and will be sending out Game 1winner, Denyi Reyes to try and get the Game 4 victory. He pitched 6.2 innings, giving up 3 runs but only 1 was earned in that game. Another start like that and Samsung will be booking hotels for Gwangju over the weekend.
LG will send out Dietrich Enns to try and force a Game 5. Enns has not pitched well at all in this postseason, with a 7.27 ERA. Part of that can be attributed to his 2nd game against KT, that was on 4 days rest because the LG manager doesn’t like to leave the questionable decisions to just in game decisions, but also likes to make sure they are also done before the game too. He is on full rest for this game and at home, so there will be no excuses if he doesn’t get it done.
The likelihood of this game being played is lower than the likelihood of Hanwha winning the Korean Series next year. There is a lot of rain in the forecast and the game should be cancelled and rescheduled for Saturday. If this turns out to be the case, it will definitely benefit Samsung. Reyes will be on short rest (by KBO standards) and Samsung also used their bullpen heavily on Thursday. While LG won’t have Hernandez available for a game on Friday, they will have a starter on full rest and a bullpen that wasn’t used at all on Thursday.
