This was supposed to be a much different story than what has unfolded this season.

  1. The barely talked about 8,06 mil in cap penalties excluding the 4 mil that was potentially terminated from Johansen contract … surely has some influence.

Thats a 12 mil handicap … it’s borderline Minnesota esque, without Philadelphia’s move that may or may not work.

Idk why people have different energies with Nashville and Minnesota when they are basically in the same boat.

  2. Remind me how dead in the water Edmonton was this time last year and for an uncomfortable time afterward until serious changes behind the players were made?

Today is the 22nd. A month from now, Nashville’s poor start will be an unflattering memory, and someone like the Sharks will still be searching for their 5th win (which came 11/27 last year.)

Here’s a hot one, even this early: Columbus has more points than the Flyers, led by Michkov and his minus-6 rating.

  3. Chemistry is messed up and egos must be put in place. This is the coaches issue to set fresh systems and refine roles. Realistically, they only have a true #2 center with O’Reilly at this point in career. Stammer if at center is also a #2 or 3. Stammer and Marsie are gifted older players but need special systems to get them going. This could take 30 games, but they need stronger centers.

  4. All the preds have to do is lose another 20-30 games, fire their coach, have Barry trotz take over the bench, catch fire and make the playoffs, then lose in game 7 in the Cup Finals…

  5. Saros should be up at a .910+ save percentage if the Predators are going to be competitive, even with the additions, and you can say that about the majority of teams. An .875 isn't getting it done. Sure, you can blame the defence, but ultimately, it's not good enough.

  6. Personally I felt they were on a phenomenal hot streak last second half rather than they were long term where they were, so I didn't buy the hype all that much. There's been concerns over Stamkos' 5 on 5 totals over the past couple years in the analytics community as well but not nearly bad enough for his start this year. I think they're struggling to gel and build chemistry in the new lineup. I expect they course correct but whether they do it in time for a playoff spot is the big question. My guess would be they narrowly miss by the end of the season.

  7. This looks bad because it’s starting the season and relative to expectations. Most teams have a 4 game losing streak at some point, preds are just starting the season with theirs. They have talent and will turn it around.

  8. It is now June 2025.
Utah is celebrating their first Stanley Cup victory after narrowly defeating the Buffalo Sabres in Game 7.
Nashville has fired all their players, coaches, managers, and anyone even remotely associated with the team – including the concessions staff – after the Predators finished out a tragic 1-81 season.
And Marc Andre-Fleury announces he is going to play yet another year of NHL hockey.

  9. I was not really on board the hype train for Nashville, so I'm honestly not terribly surprised by this start. As a Jets fan, I'm also kinda jazzed because I know there were a lot of people saying that Nashville would take Winnipeg's spot in the playoffs this year. Not looking like that right now. I know it's still early, but this is a very hard hole to dig out of.

  10. After watching them last year in the playoffs against the Canucks (Nucks fan here). I was very impressed and became a Preds fan.
After the moves they made in the offseason I thought they had improved and was super worried about that matchup coming again. With the thought that "I don't know if the Nucks beet them this time"
I was not expecting an 0/5 start for them

  11. Minnesota and St Louis currently leading their respective games. Minnesota most likely to win, barring a 3rd period collapse. St Louis and Winnipeg still in the first, so lots of game left in that one for scoreboard changes.
