Why We’ll Always LOVE The 2024 Mets | Ep. 100 | Meet at the Apple

The Mets may not have punched a ticket to the World Series but they did give us one of the best years we’ve ever had as fans. We reflect on a heartbreaking loss but look forward to what is an incredible future with a fantastic front office, the best ownership in baseball and amazin’ years to come from Francisco Lindor, Mark Vientos, Francisco Alvarez and a ton of other guys who made 2024 the magical ride it was.

  1. Love this NY Mets team , but McNeil and Senga shouldn't have played , Iglesia was the spark plug for this team, and he wasn't in the lineup up and Senga starting game 1 killed the momentum… Smh

  2. Does anyone know what happened to Butto as a long man option for this game ??

Also, lack of hitting with runners on this game was doozie. Maybe you get 7 runs instead of 5, put more pressure, maybe different outcome for Game 6.

  3. I'm so proud to be a Mets fan because honestly it's an easy call. I've been a diehard fan since 1976 when the Yankees were running away with the division and as a kid. I felt I needed to root forca ye that needed my love. All the years since, the Mets have given me a fun ride. I now live in San Diego and I'm also a Padres fan. I also happen to be a Brewers fan and all 3 teams made it to the playoffs. That was super special for me. I loved your podcast because you guys are Mets fans and sharing your memories as well as this 2024 team made it extra fun. Thanks guys looking forward to your content this off-season especially about the minors. Be sure to cover the AZ Fall League too please.

  4. One of the most memorable Mets seasons I will always cherish, so proud of this team, when no one expected them to get anywhere they made the impossible, but just fell a little short of the ultimate magical moment, hopefully next season will be special

  5. This is a team of destiny; our work goes on. Bind up our wounds and frankly addressing our faults long term is the job that never ends. We have unity, and that is rare in NY. The owners are not at ends with players & management. Players are tight friends, tearing them asunder is not a necessary step. Some will go, but many will remain. This is the start of our greatness.

  6. Meet at the Apple is a choice site. You give heart felt emotions. I respect your views you helped clarify the qualities of being a fan. I am here because you make me comfortable. MetsNation. Wishing both Dodgers and Yankees a losing WS. Cheers!

  7. Bring OLERUD back. I'm proud to see him in Orange and Blue. He could be some kind of "Patience Coach" giving Guys advice on how to go deep into Counts. A nine-pitch Swinging K has value, even if on paper it's negative. Long Live #5 batted .353 in 1999.

  8. Great episode guys. I'm still so emo … I really loved the 2024 Mets team … my favorite Mets team in a long time. Thanks for everything this year, I really enjoyed the pod and the positivity. #LGM

  9. I don't remember having seen a team that has given me so many emotions, it sucks to have been eliminated, I had absolute confidence in that team, I was convinced that the team would emerge victorious in the end, but honestly the rival was superior and fair winners. I hope this doesn't end up as a fleeting season and that in the following years we see this team playing so much fun in the postseason.

  10. As horrible as this sounds the best part of the post season for me even if they made it all the way and won, would've been seeing the Mets crush the Phillies in the DS. A part of the my Mets heart healed seeing the Phillies team who should've been the better team cap off their slide all season against the Mets. I did my ugly cry in 2007 and I waited 17yrs for this answer to them.

While if the pitching, bullpen and lineup could've been managed better in the LCS. Our holes were exposed and the Padres probably would've beaten us too.

To anyone we're the same old Mets. The same old Mets would've lost the LCS at Citi Field in game 5, would've lost the DS at Citizens Bank Park in Game 5, they would've lost game 3 in American Family Field, they would've been swept in that double header in Atlanta, and they would've had a worse record then the Nationals in this 2024 season. As disappointing this series was it was no doubt an incredible run. The difference now is we have management and own who cares so we don't have to wait 5 or 10 years for another shot and will become the Dynasty we should've been in 1970s, late 80s, late 2000s and late 2010s
