149 pitches!!! El mas grande el Toro!
As a dodgers fan idc what anyone says itβs really anyoneβs World Series in 2024. Both teams made it to this point by being the best in their respective region. As much as I want the dodgers to win it wonβt be an easy feat for either team.
IN 1981 MY FRIEND GARY LEONARD HAD SEASON TICKETS FOR THE LOS ANGELES DODGERS
HE LIVED AT LANDA DRIVE AND ECHO PARK AVENUE SO IT TOOK ONLY A FEW MINUTES TO GET TO THE STADIUM FOR A GAME
WE WENT TO EVERY GAME FERNANDO PITCHED AT THE STADIUM IN 1981
IT WAS A MAGICAL YEAR
FERNANDO WAS A MASTER

Rest in peace ππ»π
Classy move MLB.. love that you posted this today.
We lost the best pitcher of the early 80'1 in Fernado Valenzuela May he rest in peace. And let it be known Fernando brought the Latino community to the Dodgers and brought a sweet taste to what was bitter the Dodgers wouldn't have the fan base they have with him "If you have a sombrero throw it to the sky" Vin Scully Now let's watch greatness
After the news of Fernando's passing last night, i was looking for this and could only find clips. I'm glad you posted this in its entirety. π Rest in peace Fernando.
Wow
Why doesnβt the dodger channel have this games
This is what MLB needs to do more. Uploading full classic games, and especially when the moments make sense. The 81 World Series this week makes sense, but the passing of Fernando Valenzuela makes tons of sense for younger fans to see how great he was in 1981.
Damn, Fernando was 21 and looks 38!
As a Yankee fan, Fernandomania was amazing in the early 80s, while I was in high-school, after winning in 77,78, I wasn't too upset with Fernando and Dodgers winning in 81, miss that era π.
The Dodgers will win the World Series for Fernando Valenzuela π
He got totally lucky.
I remember watching this and how proud my family was that he was from Mexico. I was really hoping to see him return to the World Series, but if you want to hear the Gods laugh, tell them your plans. Travel peacefully, El Toro.
Rest in Peace Fernando… Another baseball legend gone too soon
It is weird hearing Howard Cosell on a baseball game. I know AL Michaels used to do baseball in old World Series clips, especially mid-late 80s moments like the earthquake in 89 or the blown ump call in 85. But hearing Michaels and Howard together is truly unique.
In Memorium . . . Thank you El Toro and MLB π
MLB not wasting anytime π
Thank you for posting this ποΈπ

I was 9 years old and in little league when they played this game, we loved Fernando not only because he was great, but also because the dodgers station in Los Angeles, KTTV channel 11, broadcasted all of Fernando's starts on TV, as it was much different back then and hardly any home games were televised.
Rest easy Fernando! You were one of the best!
