Vlad better be extended on Nov 3rd which is the day after game 7.

The Jays need to spend money in order to be competitive next season, and we all know it.
These idiots running the jays are going to go all in for Soto and then when they don't get him MAYBE they will open to sign vlad but pretty sure Vlad is sick of their BS and knows what they are doing. And by that point he's going to feel so disrespected by them he won't take whatever they offer. Remember, Vlad is the only young star in his caliber that hasn't been extended across baseball since he came up (Tatis Jr, Acuna Jr, Devers, Wander Franco, Rodriguez, Soto was offered a huge pay by Nationals back then but declined it.) All of those guys and more got extended but no Vlad and he's had 2 seasons better than most of these guys so far.
Offer him a big 5 year deal. If he balks at that move on.
The Jays will continue to regress as long as Atkins is GM. He disrepsects the stars on the roster, he gaslights the fans with false hopes of signings, he has yet to negotuate an extension for a player of value and he has yet to draft any players of value. Is it any wonder Gausman and Bichette are unhappy? Atkins is unqualified to be a GM and should never have beem hired. Its Schapiros fault the Jays are now depleted of talent and soon will be playing in an empty stadium. Jays fans will not support a team that refuses to make moves to win.
He's not likely getting extended this year and it's not going to be Atkins' fault.
Vladdy was 3 days short of FA due to service time manipulation. He knows he should be free right now.
He may want to stay, but there is no way he isn't asking for 40+ long term. The only thing that's going to knock that down to something reasonable, is the FA market.
Jays are fools to not attempt to extend Vladdy for 30-33/yr. But Vlad is a fool if he accepts.
It's unfortunate for fans, but it's likely the reality.
