Anthony Duclair Is Out 4-6 Weeks, Now What for the New York Islanders?

The New York Islanders have announced that forward Anthony Duclair is expected to be out of action for 4-6 weeks. So, how will Patrick Roy deal with his absence. Roy already made changes to his line combinations on Thursday at practice. We break down the changes and what they mean going forward.

Plus, The Athletic had NHL executives vote on the best front offices in the league and guess what, the Isles ranked near the bottom. Apparently, fellow front office types don’t have a high regard for how Lou Lamoriello has handled this franchise in recent years, we explain why.

And the Isles play two games this weekend. We preview both tonight’s game vs New Jersey Devils and Satruday’s home game against the defending Stanley Cup champion Florida Panthers.

All this and more on today’s Locked On Islanders Podcast with Gil Martin.

  1. Tuff break for isles. This is what happens when isles have little depth/cap room when injuries hit. $4 mill. of ltir space for louzer to do nothing but recall 18 and sign 17 to contract or go waiver scouring. No recourses, no hope for isles sorry offense when a top sixer goes down. Maybe 26, 10 will start to score goals. Maybe 13, 14, 29 will combine for 4-5 goals every game in 11's absense. Maybe 21 will get hot and start scoring. Maybe maybe maybe with isles. On a bright note eisermann is off to a hot start at bc. He may be with isles sooner than we think with sad state of isles goal scoring ability. Just hope eisermann doesn't forget how to score goals once he touches isles system like 26 and bellows did and that his development tract isn't hampered like with those two who bounced around before going to pros.

  2. Most boring team in the league. 0 – 3 vs Stars. 0 -1 vs Blues in OT! 0-1 vs Red Wings. Lou = Louser. Watch as attendance goes down like a sinking ship

  3. What is the point of waiting for LTIR placement ? Gil 18 has to be given another shot considering the contract and other options that are available. No sure what else Lou can do at this point in the season. LGI trying to stay positive but it’s not working !

  4. Gil, at this point, better try and get what you can for any player that another team would want, time for the fire sale, get any young players time to give up sorokin, Nelson, and any other player, build around Cole Eiserman, sorry my opinion thanks Gil

  5. Good 🌄, Gil, how are you ? I knew Anthony DuClair's injury would be out for a while, but he's out until 🦃 or 🎄. Patrick Roy's making some serious line changes he's making the 4th line speedier is one of these. Oliver Wahlstrom's been moved up to the 3rd line. They still need to become physical, even though they're trying. We'll know the first test is in Jersey. I wouldn't be surprised if he put Maxim Tsyplakov with Bo and Barzy. Whoever Lou Lamoriello 📞 up, he won't be 25 or under. The top 5 Atlantic ranked 1-5 weren't afraid to spend the coin. I'm not surprised. That the Islanders didn't rank among them. I smell some serious changes before the trade deadline. They've got the 😈 tonight let's hope they scorch them, and take a piece of the 🪨 with them, and they play reigning Stanley Cup Champions tomorrow at UBS Arena let's hope they don't declawed. The Islanders need to get mad. HAPPY 🎂, Wendal Clark. Hes a good player. He scored 564 points in his career. Hear from you later, Gil, and LET'S GO ISLANDERS.

  6. Good morning team! Gil, not the best news about Dooky, but not the end of the world. Such negativity in the comments. Yes, it hurts losing a player like him for two months, but we have an entire "team" that needs to rally around that loss right now. They need to pick up the slack, and when he returns to the lineup, we'll be a better team for it. Let's see what happens tonight against the Devils and tomorrow against the Panthers. Not an easy weekend, to say the least. Everyone, have a great day and wonderful weekend. See you all again Monday. Until then.. Let's Go Islanders!!

  7. IMO, Duclair out is a minor bump. That line wasn't playing up to the 20+ million they earn. It seq4ms like the chemistry Bo and Mat were developing stalled as they tried to integrate Duclair.
I continue to be dumbfounded by the total lack of effort to get Lee net-front and get him the puck. Tips and digging rebounds is how you beat hot goalies. Lee was one of the best, but coach after coach has failed to insist his linemates utilize his talent. We should be grooming Sippy and Wally for the same role. They both have decent size and don't mind being physical. WE JUST DON'T HAVE THE CRISP PASSING AND ONE TIME SCORING TALENT TO BEAT THESE GOALIES. Those are the main reasons our PP sucks. Teams set up in front of the net and we can't do sheet.
We need battles in front of the net to break the D-setup. Forget about hitting the net from the dots, just get the puck behind the D and to the guy parked in front of the net. This team banging it's head on the walls trying to net pretty goals is like a cancer, and it starts with Barzal.

  8. Gilbo Gabbins, thanks again. Hoping to come away with at least two points this weekend. Man this team seems on its way down and the more they try to stave it off, the longer the trip down
