Can Jameis Winston prove worthy of being in the Browns long-term plans + Are you buying DG stock?

Jameis Winston will make his first start for the Browns against the Ravens, coach Kevin Stefanski announced Wednesday. Winston will also receive his plays from a new voice: offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey.

Yes, for the first time in his tenure as coach of the Browns, Stefanski is relinquishing play-calling duties.

“Every single week, I’m looking at things that we can do better,” Stefanski said when asked what prompted the change. “We need to improve, (so) I felt like this is the right move for right now.”

The switch comes after Cleveland has proven to be a dreadful operation when possessing the ball in the first seven weeks, ranking dead last in yards per game, 30th in passing yards per game, tied for 28th in rushing yards per game and 29th in points scored per game (15.6). The Browns haven’t cracked 20 points once in 2024, and after trading Amari Cooper to Buffalo last week, their leading touchdown scorer is veteran safety Rodney McLeod, who has returned a fumble and a blocked field goal for a total of two touchdowns.

Much of the Browns’ struggles could have been pinned on Deshaun Watson ‘s subpar play. Before a torn Achilles ended his season, Watson was unquestionably the worst starting quarterback in the NFL through the first six weeks, failing to find open targets and surrendering to opposing pass rushes habitually while struggling with accuracy when attempting passes. Though he didn’t turn the ball over often, he also didn’t help the Browns sustain drives. Through seven games, Cleveland ranks 32nd in third down conversion rate at 23.71 percent.

Simply, the Browns need to find a way to inject some life into their offense. With Watson now out of the picture for 2024, Stefanski is taking an extra step by handing play-calling duties to Dorsey, the offensive coordinator he hired in the offseason to replace Alex Van Pelt. | https://www.nfl.com/news/browns-to-start-jameis-winston-at-qb-vs-ravens-oc-ken-dorsey-to-call-plays

  1. No one Jay? Some of us knew for years that Flacco should have been on the Browns. they could have taken him the year that Lamar showed up and took his job.

  2. You guys Flacco didn't want to play for the Browns. He was a Raven his whole career. That's why he's in Indy. He doesn't care about the Browns. F the Ravens! They're gonna move to Brook Park. I don't think anybody gets fired.

  3. I wish I had Jay's confidence to constantly talk about something I know nothing about. Im begging him to attempt to understand basic stats and how they're used in sports.

  4. As someone who does building permitting for a living, in Florida, I can almost guarantee that a lot of the political side of this Stadium thing is about the massive amount of tax dollars that will go to the City, not only from sales tax on the tickets, but the impact fees for the building. Just a 1.1% permit fee just for a $3B stadium construction cost is a $33M tax loss, regardless of what the actual gameday tax revenue loss is.

  5. AB should be fired…. I disagree. At what doing do you start saying the coaching is the problem. It's not ab fault they are not executing and false starting. It just continues to show you guys are talking just to talk as opposed to knowing what you are talking about.

Meanwhile he's had 2, 11-5 rosters and you guys don't credit the roster on those notes.

  6. I don’t care about anything Jay is ranting about. I want brownsworld in Brooke Park. Jay gtf over it. Nobody’s asking Cleveland for money to build in Brooke Park , sin tax, brook park, jimmy and fans will pay for it and that’s how it is everywhere . This why teams have left Ohio or threatened to go to Tampa (Indians 1989) (Cavs in 1987)

And why players don’t wanna come here cuz people here bitch about irrelevant shit

If jimmy pays not 90 but 70% then let’s have his football mecca

55:00 Jay even credits Sellers for being on the smart side of this while Jays in the Stone Age. If the build in Brooke Park , not only Brooke Park but metro Cleveland are gonna be rolling in $$ they haven’t seen , it’ll lift all northeast Ohio.

A rising tide lifts ALL boats

  7. Great take Earl. And I appreciate you saying you owe an apology. That’s literally all it would take from Myles or Shelby or Rodney…….just to acknowledge that it wasn’t all of us. You’re a good guy!! Appreciate it! 👊🏻

  8. Players can thrive off the energy of fans. When your own fans boo it just creates a toxic atmosphere that no player is gonna care to do well for. When you cheer that someone on your team got hurt that’s disgusting. There will be no success in a culture like that.
