  1. The Celtics have adapted and taken it to another level when it comes to playing in the modern NBA. If it was the Lakers or some other team that the fans had a favorite player of, the criticism would not be there. The media has to disrespect Boston because none of their players are selfish. They are becoming the Spurs under Duncan where they were not fan friendly, but they have the chips to cement their legacy.

  2. Hilarious that people got mad about the celts shooting 60 threes instead of the Knicks for leaving 45 3s open lol

Being good 3s is fun and exciting! Way more exciting than foul call stoppage every other play. Nothing takes the air out of the room than a ticky-tack foul halting the energy of the game. More physicality, less whining about good teams!

  3. I'm glad you mentioned the Celtics Defense. Early regular season It doesn't show up in the scoreboard, but Celtics have high-end defenders down the roster. Hoilday and White both made all defense last year, Hoilday is always an elite defender, white is a block machine. Tatum has the size an ability to defender centers and wings. Jaylen Brown is nasty. Porzingis is an elite rim defender. In all 4 of their finals wins over Dallas, they held the Mavs to under 100

  4. Love the takes Kofie. It's been 4 games (for most teams) of an 82 game season. And the Celtics are one of the only teams that kept their team pretty much the same from last season to this one. So to start the season, they are going to have a massive chemistry advantage over everyone else. I think as the other teams gel, games with the Celtics will get more competitive. Those who are just saying they shoot 3's are incorrect. The way they run screens, execute drive and kickouts, even the way they look for a kickout on an offensive rebound in order to get those open looks is enjoyable to watch.

The 3 points for a dunk rule would be super confusing. It would then require defining what a dunk is. Remember that Dwight Howard dunk in the dunk contest where he never actually touched the rim, but fired it in from a few feet away? Would that count? Do you have to touch the rim? Do you have to have a certain intensity? What if it was an alley-oop, but the timing was slightly off, so the guy was going to slam it, but kinda turned it into a lay-up. Would there be an argument over that? Imagine a coaches challenge on whether a 3-pt dunk should actually be counted due to whatever B.S. dunk rules were implemented. Not loving that idea.

  5. If we’re considering making dunks worth three points, we should just skip straight to having a panel give out style points instead. Makes way more sense and puts the script out in the open

  6. I am people.

I just hate how you can play a great game and have it not matter cause the Celtics shooting variance decided to hit on nearly 50% of 3s, so you just lose. It’s not fun to watch.

  7. I think the team writers that used to travel with the team is the biggest loss to the ring culture debates because they don't always have sensational headlines or hot takes.
Those writers gave us some of the best storyline, insights, and endearing characters, and that type of reporting is becoming rare.

  8. My hot take is that the 3 thing isn’t a problem in aggregate, fans will learn. The problem is the variance it introduces makes a meaningful number of regular season games absolutely meaningless. If say 30% of games between 26/30 teams are just a function of statistical noise rather than skill then it’s hard to invest in your team.

  9. Nobody cared about this when the Celtics weren’t winning, as soon as Boston found their identity and started dominating its a problem 😂

  10. Your commentary on dunking got me thinking. In a recent game, I don't remember which, a player got a steal and passed it to a teammate on the other end of the court for an easy, open, flashy dunk. The commentators were doing their usual "what's he got for us" type of commentary. While I was watching that, I felt nonplussed and unimpressed. It was cool, but not something that I'd necessarily get excited about.

If anything, it reminded me of this past dunk contest and how relatively boring it felt to watch. Dunks are most exciting when they are contested. Uncontested dunks, at least to me, aren't really exciting at all to watch.

  11. What do you think of increasing the value of the points. A 2 becomes worth 3 and a 3 becomes worth 4. That way, instead of a shot outside the arc worth 50% more than inside, it’ll be worth 33%. It’s decreasing the incentive, value, and efficiency of the current 3 point shot.

  12. The point about the GM masterclass is true, and to further it is that it’s the perfect combination of two very good GMs. Ainge built the core of the team, horded assets while creating the foundation for success, Stevens was the perfect guy to cash in those chips for players.

  13. I know it's early, but give them their 2cd ring already. The Celtics just looks unstoppable. And the fact that Porzingis is coming back soon makes them even more unstoppable 😮

  14. You lost me when you implied that the negative air around the NBA is an indirect result of people trying to defend Jordan's greatness over Lebron

Solid video. But you went off the rails with that nonsense.

People dont care about the regular season because its a transitional phase of the nba, stars are aging, new stars arent popular and people have short attention spans.

Suggesting that people moving the goalpost to keep Lebron out of the Jordan convo is what has hurt basketball is insane.

And no one was comparing Lebron ro Jordan before Miami, and when he did go to Miami, he was eviscerated and his championships were never considered legitimate publicly

  15. The focus on retired players. The lack of appreciation for the current players. The lack of coverage for anybody who isnt top 5 in the league. The negativity that drives discord.. We took the passion out of the game for sure.

  16. the idea that dunks == excitement is such a flawed idea. Like, how many dunks has Kyrie Irving had in his career? Would anybody ever try to tell you that Kyrie is not an exciting player?

  17. I agree with the vid, but your point about not everyone being able to dunk makes no sense. Players already don't make the league from lack of height and that would be no different

  18. I honestly feel like JT’s biggest issue, popularity wise, is basic 2-handed dunks… dude has zero creativity. Love him, but would love to see him bring more fun to that part of his game.
