  1. Thanks for the analysis on the fundamentals Murf. Broadcast are too quick bash players. Could you imagine if announcers talked about OL or DL fundamental play? I have to imagine the things you are talking about are similar to meetings with coaches and players looking at game film.

  2. I told myself before the season it might be a slowish start to the season for the defense. Here we are having the exact season I thought we would and now I’m pissed 😂

  3. Murph, do you have a take on Connor Williams? When he was signed, he was supposed to be the guy… a top 10 center that excelled in the run game and allow us to get by with below-average guard play. But our O line in the run game is still bottom-shelf. I know the bad snaps and stepping on Geno's foot sucked, but those are fluky. I'm more interested in whether he actually contributes. When I watch duo runs, I see us double team the opposing tackle, and we still can't move anyone. 600 lbs vs 300 lbs shouldn't be a stale mate!

  4. I’ve been wondering why Spoon is invisible this year. Don’t feel him on the field at all. Most of the time not even sure if he’s in the personnel package.

  5. Yeah, knowing your responsibilities protecting your gap is so key!… You gave me flashbacks of scolding several youth, while running a 3-5 defense… “Do your damn job!” cuz that ‘Hero-Ball’ messes everything up, for real! 😂

  6. Is discipline a coaching issue? Or guys just feeling desperate at the game wears on or what? Schneider has made 2 trades already to get defensive personnel that fits what Macdonald wants to do. I also feel the personnel like is a bit cheesy.

  7. I don’t know football like Murf does and this video definitely leaves me realizing why I haven’t understood the varying levels of performance we’ve seen out of the defense. It definitely feels like we’re just not quite cemented yet with the overall game plan and fundamentals. There is a lot of talent in this team but not a lot of consistency. I think long term good coaching is going to make the difference. I know Macdonald is in his first year so I’m not mad at him but I hope he can be more strict with some of these guys as we move forward. Missed tackles feels like one of the biggest correctable things this team needs to address and that feels like it comes from drilling in fundamentals. That and being disciplined in gap assignment seems like it can go a long way toward overall defensive performance. I hope that as Mike Macdonald gets more used to the other responsibilities he has as a head coach that he can really do his thing with the defense. Year 1 is almost always gonna be shaky no matter who it is. Pete, Shanahan, McVay, Belichick, Reid, etc., all these head coaches have losing records their first year.

  8. Hawks come off as schizophrenic and undirected.
If a team is a reflection of their coaches personality,as some would say, then whatever issues they are having as a team are not entirely happening on the field, the on field results seem more of just a reflection of whatever the hell is going on with coaching/organisation.
Halfway through the season and this narrative/excuse of give them time is already worn out fan/media speak imo
Everyone in this organisation are well paid grown men who at the end of the day face and deal with the same challenges as any other team.
Poor choices and bad mistakes are two totally different things and Seattle is fast becoming prolific at committing to both.
    YMMV ✌️

  9. Agree with Murf on ‘Spoon this year. Too many missed tackles, mostly being too aggressive running full speed at the runner getting easily juked. Also poor technique not squaring up.

  10. I do agree that spoon is kinda having a sophomore slump but that’s the fan in me I hope that’s all it is, cus in theory he still has mad potential but you’re right he does look normal so far this year and it’s like he forgot how to tackle all of the sudden

  11. 21 Spoon, even some Hawks fans rethinking that draft pick this year.
Very few of us wanted Carter or a trade-down for more trench opportunities. I think Spoon will get his groove again though.

  12. Jones is very impressive! He reminds me of a young Bobby. I love all the players on our D-line, they are just too good to not figure it out soon. I actually thought they had been playing fairly well up until this point.

  13. Basics before Ballin! Basically 🤣🤣🤣 i like what you said Murf that there are pros on both sides of the ball. Also we aren't halfway thru the first season with the system.

  14. That play where Jones tackles Allen in the redzone is insane. Dion Dawkins is a monster of a man and Allen is a mountain of a QB but Jones still made the play

  15. I don’t understand this. Mike McDonald was supposed to be the opposite of Pete when it came to discipline yet our team looks even less disciplined than Pete’s. WTF is happening ??

  16. Yeah, this was definitely a tough watch, but I'm going to be honest and say that I felt it coming because our run defense was just not disciplined enough. You hit the nail on the head with that one. Bills are too talented of a rushing attack to get away with that stuff for long. Hats off to the Bills and their fans. They showed up and showed out. I'm very encouraged with the tackling from the MLB spot now. Reminds me of Bobby out there. Nice to see, but this is still a very young team and they have to learn. Thanks for the breakdown, Murf. As always, GO HAWKS!!!
