Most young quarterbacks are failing on their first team, so is it smarter to not be the first team?
Could this be the new meta.

I think picking up the QB that flames out on his first stint is the new meta. Heck, pick up a few of them and have them compete.
you forgot to mention the qbs that are succeeding like jayden daniels, drake may, and cj stroud.
It’s becoming more apparent that a QB at 22 that doesn’t perform well at their first, typically dysfunctional, team, does not mean they’re forever flamed out… especially when they move to a new and well run team.
It makes sense when you type it out, but that isn’t how it used to be in the previous QB era. What’s the reason? QBs are coming into the league more polished than before with more robust QB camps and programs, so the quality of QB coming from college isn’t getting worse. Instead, it’s the degradation of the modern offensive lineman. The average team has poor offensive line play. You can’t develop into a proper NFL QB on a rookie contract if your offensive line is getting you harassed. They develop bad habits: get spooked in the pocket, not going thru proper reads, poor throwing mechanics, etc… all stemming from an offensive line that consistently allows opposing defenses to quickly pressure and sack the QB
Also; Sam Howell. Trade to Seahawks for a jumbo bag of chips.
Years gone by, a QB drafted in the first round, was expected to start. You never saw this.
I keep hearing that online play across the league is poor. I wonder where these QBs' onlines rank. Can you imagine if we snagged one of the top 5 QBs in last year's draft as many fans hoped? They would be getting demolished and that has to have a negative impact on your confidence and development. Just something to think about.
Richardson!!!!
The main reason is teams continue to choose qbs that in the past would never be considered first round choices, just to try and catch lightning in a bottle….and the teams drafting high are the ones usually with the worst rosters and worst run organizations wanting to have that young qb excitement put butts in the seats….recipe for disaster….
That's why I still believe in John S. Good job on Sam Howell. If Geno struggles in three games against NFC West, put Sam Howell in. He is a stud that you all have been wanting for.
They’re rushing them to the field and expecting to go to the playoffs immediately I still believe in 3 of those quarterbacks
Wanted to see Richardson to Seattle in the 2023 draft. The dream is not dead!!
Can we stop acting like there’s a legit QB development problem? Look back to drafts in the 90s and 2000s and you will see the same amount of QBs that amounted to nothing.
I know this has nothing to do with this video but Brendon did you see Randy Gregory visited the Seahawks? So we're still looking for players.
Justin Fields was doing good in Pittsburgh but Mr 💋 🍑 Got a chance and so Justin sits
Naw, Zach Wilson sucked then too.
But Brendon what do Geno, Darnold and Zach Wilson all have in common?
I also saw today that Richardson has been benched. The Colts decided that winning short term is more important than teaching Richardson. QBs in and from college suffer (rare exception) from reading defenses that are very poor. So what they see in their first year in Pro Ball is so for advanced that it takes awhile.
The NFL is the best, strongest league in North American Sports. However The NFL has a blind spot. They do not have a farm system. So it is up to the coaches to train the QBs properly. This is not being done. Patience. Or a farm system. College is not the answer.
Dan Marino is largely considered the best throwing QB of all time. Did you know he averaged 21 interceptions in 7 of his first 10 seasons? And if it were a 17 game season like today, he would have averaged 23 interceptions. Peyton Manning is a good example of horrible in his first years. Drew Brees. The list goes on. The problem with today's NFL can be called the Patrick Mahomes Syndrome: teams want a plug-n-play HOFer right out of the box, and unfortunately, they don't want to develop QBs anymore. As far as the rebuild idea, aren't we doing that with both Geno and Sam? Both of them were thrown away by their teams. Can't help but think they would both benefit from a better O-line.
I’d rather just develop Howell 👀
