Post-Game Reaction: Edmonton Oilers 5, Nashville Predators 1
Leon Draisaitl continued his dominance of the Nashville Predators with two goals and an assist, while centre Noah Philp contributed his first NHL assist and Zach Hyman scored his first goal of the season on Thursday in a feel-good 5-1 victory for the Edmonton Oilers at Bridgestone Arena.
Forward Viktor Arvidsson also secured his first Oilers goal only 37 seconds into the first period before Philp got on the scoresheet for his first NHL point by helping set up Corey Perry’s go-ahead goal later in the period that made it 2-1 for the Blue & Orange.

Haha would you look at that! Everyone who I said scored did! Perry. Arvidsson. Draisital. Hyman. Find that pretty cool! What a game by Edmonton tonight.
4,000 SUBSCRIBERS THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH!!!!! 🧡🧡💙💙🧡🧡💙💙😭😭😭😭😭😭
Podkolzin just about knocked out Lazon. Holly molly that was shocking. I thought to myself he is now our secret weapon for fights now. He will absolutely have a crazy reputation. GO OILERS GO!
The call ups absolutely brought the energy!! Philp, Caggiula were amazing in that shift with Perry! Podkolzin has definitely earned the 2nd line. Happy Hyman got the monkey off his back – now for the third line of doom (Janmark, Henrique, Brown) to wake up!
Podkolzin's a beaut!
Picks owns the preds 😂 LGO
If Skinner plays we lose vs calgary
I want philip on my roster every day of the week over ryan. Hes just so much better younger and faster. Also, this was rhe end of nashvilles 4 game point streak including 3 wins.
OILERS HAUNT THE PREDS 🗣️🗣️
Congrats Austin!! I’ve enjoyed your channel for almost a year now. Nice to see the Oilers step it up a notch tonight and get the W!!
Spent abt 17 years hating on C Perry. Now i love him. Arvidsens een all around it, glad it happened. Number 18 finally ent to the forehand= kudos. Good game all around
safe to say it’s a beautiful night in oil country
The man himself hitting 4K 🎉 congrats brother and congrats to the oilers for winning without Connor 🤙
Leon won mvp and rocket last time Connor was injured.
Goaltending was standout for this season, Oilers allowed a few opportunities that they've been getting scored on but they stayed out. Emberson fully stood out with some very efficient physicality, the fight was cool, but the hit he landed and the way he dished the puck over to his partner after to draw that fight, that's what they've been missing going back a long time. Emberson made that kind of play consistently too. Great offense and I never would have called that Oilers would become the fighting team but I'm here for it.
Podkozlin channeled his prime mike tyson
We need a world class hypnotist to do some work with Drai and get him to believe that every team are the Nashville Predators.
Agreed on Philp
This game was great and all, but it’s just the warm up for Calgary coming up. I hope they’re cooking up something nice, I don’t think Calgary will be as easy as the preds proved tonight. Big win, momentum is in favour of the oil.
Agree with the philp take. He needs to stay; he brought huge energy and the guys were even trying to set him up for tip-ins those last few shifts. Perry could have even binned a second goal he decided to try to play for Philp. He’s a total natural and could be huge for Oilers’ dynamism.
Luckily our prayers to saint McJesus came together and the team rallied together and tore the rink up! Excellent performance overall from everyone, the defence is still a little too shaky with Kulak giving away free pucks and Bouch checking out here and there. As soon as I saw Ty fighting I knew we had the Preds number and then along came Podz…2 hits, broken nose, 5-0 for the fighting Oilers, thank you very much. Drai showed the fans and his teammates that he can fill Davo skates. Let's go Oilers 🛢️🧡
Halloween outfit: Jeremy Lauzon’s nose!
Strong performance
Maybe Connor tried to get his team going by leaving for a couple of games, so that the would rally around Draisaitl 😅
Wow draisaitl stepped up like I thought he could, that short side goal. 🥰🥰🤩
Leon's key to success, according to Austin Hockey: "The heartiest of breakfasts"
LOL. 100%

Again, waiting for surgery, couldn't watch the game. Disclaimer: Expressive Language follows. It's muted but it's there.
Okay from what I heard (yes, I listen to the games and calls) this was an old fashioned ASS WHOOPIN' by the Oilers on their favorite team to beat up on the Nashville Predators. Tonight Corey Perry seemed fast somehow. Lines were rotating.
Leon OWNED them. I mean they must still owe him money and the interest was just collected but there is a balance due because he OWNED them. Obligatory the next contract with Leon is still a VALUE contract stat: Leon has 27 goals and 19 assists in the last 28 games against Nashville including Six games with 3 points or more in a game in his last 9 games played. O W N E D, say it with me now.
Right off the first drop the Oilers were flying. Arvidsson stayed with it until he scored just 37 seconds in on the first shift (assists from Leon who probably could have scored and Podkolzin). Humn, 37 seconds, the exact amount of time Connor McDavid played in the game he was injured in. Coincidence can be a marvelous thing.
Our PK Gave up 1 on 3 so not perfect and our PP only had one chance and didn't bury it. Speaking of Bury Podkolzin fought Lauzon (if you can call it a fight, three punches by Podkolzin and Lauzon was horizontal looking up though he got a few shots in first). The other fight was Emberson and Cole Smith late in the first period. Smith looked like Goliath next to Emberson's David but we all know who won that fight and in the end Emberson took Smith down. Look folks, MEAN can come in different sizes but it certainly comes in small packages (and Emberson isn't exactly SMALL he's just not a mature Redwood).
Other than letting in a pretty much zero chance shot by Forsberg on the PP (that bounced off of Connor Brown right to Forsberg) Pickard kept everything else that went his way out of the twine for a .963 Save %age (which got him the 3rd star).
Ekholm another game, another point. Bouch got an assist too. Noah Philp, first NHL point of his hopefully long career and he OWNED the Faceoff Circle winning 71.4% of his starts (on 14 tries so it's not a small potatoes sample size). This kids a keeper in my opinion BUT he's also easy to send back as he's waivers exempt. His first point and having his family in the crowd, hearing a description of their joy, I was thrilled for him (though I wish it was a goal he did a great job getting the puck out behind the net first for Caggiula to ring one off the bar then Perry to clean up the rebound and get it in). Hyman got a breakaway from a Nurse feed (who got it from Jeff Skinner) and finally scored one (11 games into the season). At this pace he'll have 7 goals this season (well 7 and 1/2 but no halfsies). It will get better and it was a nice goal top shelf gloveside on Saros.
The Oilers, GASP, Blocked more shots than Nashville (19 to 11) and Kulak had SIX of those though they had 2/3rds of the hits (20 to 30 for Nashville). Some folks were throwing them though (hits) most notably Ekholm (3), Nurse (4), and Podkolzin (4). Now for the forward group to understand they aren't frail and can bump a guy (yeah, not a love tap, but a real bump, nothing that leaves a bruise just enough to disrupt a play) and it counts as a hit.
Now all they have to do is play against other teams than Nashville the way they played this game and we're good. Take care all.
