  1. The really bad news is there is no help coming from Grand Rapids. Cossa playing well but we know Yzerman will make him rot in the AHL for another 2 years. Danielson is just another guy in the AHL. We are not getting an influx of talent until ASP and Nygard get here. Maybe Buchelnikov can develop. Seems all too hopeless.

  2. Yzerman has the rest of his life to get this right if he wants it. Chris Illitch will NEVER fire him. His coaches are boring clones of each other. Time to bring in a prick like Gerard Gallant and at least get them to play hard. At what point does Yzerman start to get embarrassed because he's stealing money?

  3. I know the Jets are a legitimate cup contender, but the Wings looked like peewees out there last night. Horrible defensive miscues, getting caught flat footed, no offensive production 5 v 5. They’re very lucky to have the record they do.

  4. Steve better wake up, before this turns into a total disaster. It's time to move from Lalonde, I was shocked he didn't fire him after last seasons total implosion. At this point even the optics look bad even if they are unfounded though I believe them to be true. Lalonde is not a motivator and comes off like he just micromanages everything at a distance with no personality and that's fine he doesn't need to make the campaign about himself, but he reads soft nobody seems to really want to get up for him. The team seemed to catch wind from the Lions success and seeing how Detroit shows out. To me it felt totally empty like this new drive had nothing to do with Lalonde. And I'm not someone that is quick to pull trig like this, but I think Steve has a proven track record and historically too it's not like magically the game just passed him up. Not every draft pick is going to be a hit too I know that but the defense just has to be better at this point, especially drafting Seider so high. To me that is the most unacceptable part of this rebuild it's been like 6 years and they seem to be the exact same team, even though they have hit on a few picks (larkin tho not steves pick but an easy one, seider and raymond) But what is the point of having all these picks if nothing cashes in? I get they are like lottery tickets, plus the wings have been kind of boned in the draft lottery a few times. But man it makes you wonder just how REALLY bad this roster and their financials were with the cap as he was heading into this thing. I know it seems like almost every year Steve is trying to lower fans expectations, even this season going into it he was saying a lot of the same rhetoric. I have found that Steve in the media will tell you flat out the truth of the bingo 100% of the time. I was excited for this season thinking well they have to be making the playoffs certainly this year and it's right back on the same train. Before Steve is out of a job I think I would be speculating for a new head coach. Someone that can motivate them on a DAILY even for practice level of course the games too. And look Lalonde might be a great hockey mind, I bet he is but clearly something is not clicking here. Steve went for someone he knew and respected and it's not panning out, for me this is as big of an issue as the defense. Likely they are friends and he's dealing with the reality that hes probably going to have to fire him if things continue to slide but he's gonna have to do it or he might not have a job next year and I know for Steve this would be a massive massive let down his identity basically is the wings. Tough situation and you hate to see it for someone who is so successful and so loved but man you are gonna have to make a move here.

  5. Until the red wings fix their defense and depth scoring they won’t make it that far. Getting outshot every game. Goalies have to play amazing to keep the game close. Wouldn’t blame the goalies for the structure of the team and how the team plays in front of them. Outside of Seider the defense is horrible.

  6. 2026-2027 is the year. They need a couple more free agencies to get more stars, & seasoning of 6-8 more guys because the draft ain’t doing anything for them besides adding middle of the lineup players.

  7. 26’-27’ Detroit Red Wings

Need a top-6 F w/ 40+ goal upside, a top-4 shutdown LD & a goalie. Probably not getting that through the draft or in one offseason. Yzerman’s time is ticking fast.
