Former Bengal & NBC Broadcaster Cris Collinsworth | Reaction to the Bengals Second Win of the Season

Former Cincinnati Bengal and NBC broadcaster Cris Collinsworth joins us today on In the Trenches with Dave Lapham to discuss the Bengals win over the New York Giants and how the Bengals can still turn their 2024 season around.

Cris of course called the game on Sunday night and it was a surprising outcome. It was a low-scoring, defensive game which is the exact opposite of the Bengal’s past four games. It was a frustrating game for Joe Burrow and the offense but Burrow played well enough in the big moments to pull out the win.

The highlight of the game was the defense, playing their best game of the 2024 season. BJ Hill and Trey Hendrickson were huge standouts, giving the Giants problems all game. The secondary also played great coming up with huge plays, especially on two crucial 4th downs.

The Bengals have another must-win game this Sunday as they travel to Cleveland to face a division rival. Joe Burrow has struggled against the Browns in his career but the Browns have had a horrible start to their season.

  1. Who Dey from London! We need to take it game by game! Build a run, start finetuning the small things. It feels like a good 3-5 game run here might be the catalyst this team needs. Lots of players are lacking confidence/game sharpness and it shows. Rep by rep, snap by snap 🙏🏈🐅

  2. With a healthy defensive line, so many more things become possible. Daniel Jones was hot garbage Sunday night, but still, to see the defense hold the opponent to 7 points, on the road, is tremendous. The offense will have better days. That Giants DLine is brutal.

  3. Personally I think NY is better than people think and the Be gals aren’t as good as people think! Therefore you got a game that was overall pretty good. Love my Bengals. But they are frustrating!

  4. Forget the win. I've got something for Dave. It's a trade. Hutchinson goes down and they're going to be looking at replacing him via trade. Since we're not going to be able to extend Trey, how about a 2nd in 26 and a 3rd in 27 from the Lions? We'd free up cap to extend Chase AND possibly enough to resign Higgins. The reason I'm looking for a 2nd in 26 so we're not using money next year to be able to resign Higgins. I think it's a win for both. Let's be honest, we're not a Superbowl team this year, not from what I see, and we just don't have the money to extend Trey, so let's use him to get better down the road. Thoughts?

  5. shout out to tycen anderson, that guy is playing lights out on special teams lately and also the punter rehkow is a BEAST. i hope to see more of tycen on defense in nickel packages

  6. This coaching staff is wasting Burrow's best years, starting with Taylor's pathetic play call. Taylor stating that he should have told Chase Brown to not score that last touchdown, just slide down short and let them kneel it out, illustrates exactly why he should not be calling plays…no killer instinct, no grasp of situational play call. Frank Pollak is not helping anything by not adjusting the oline to what defenses are doing, Rankins called them out on it when he got signed, saying that the Texans defense was able to tee-off on us last year because the oline never adjusted to what the Texans were doing. This oline, with all of it's size and experience and talent, is gonna get Burrow hurt again, and it's gonna be on Frank Pollak and Zac Taylor. Pitcher should be play calling, and I think it's long past time to make a change at oline coach.

  7. Trade Higgins for Max Crosby or Miles Garett!! Throw in a 3rd round pick if necessary!!!

    Both teams win.
Raiders need a WR after Adam’s leaving
Browns need picks to offset the bad deal of Watson.
