The Royals HAVE to make the Soler trade happen
No thanks ! we don't need Jorge Soler.
It seems like all of the players anyone talks about the Royals acquiring are 30+ and towards the end of their careers. Is there no one out there under 30 we can invest in? What about trading for someone in the minors who is currently blocked at the major league level? I'd like to see the Royals make a trade like the Marlins did with Connor Norby+Kyle Stowers for Trevor Rogers. Feels like it's time to sell high on Brady Singer and I hope we can get something that could work for the future not just the next year or two.
Please by all means take Soler. We, as braves fans, will give him to you.
I agree..I think Soler is done,as far as the Royals are concerned. If we're going to trade for someone let's do it for someone with some potential, for now and the future.
Thanks for your take Jack. I appreciate all you do
Cannot agree with Yastrzemski…if this is the best we can get then we are in trouble!
As far as your trade prospects, I think we can do better. We already have lead-off hitters with poor BAs. We don't need another one. A lead-off hitter needs to learn to take a walk, if necessary. And he ought to have at least a league average BA, if not better. I liked what the Braves fan said about Soler: "Please by all means take Soler. We, as braves fans, will give him to you." But of the the three you mentioned, Soler still makes the most sense, although I would place him in Plan B rather than in Plan A.
As far as Dave Roberts' comment you're so incensed about, I could care less about anything he or any other manager says in these types of situations. It's all sound bytes. It simply isn't important to me as a baseball fan. What's important to me is what the players do on the field.
MJ plays a decent left field and has superb arm power. Not sure about this year, but in 2023 he had (I believe) 11 outfield assists, which I think was third in the majors; and I know he had some this year. As you said, he has great power; but he needs to learn to get on base at least at league average, if not more, to be a truly useful player. Apparently, the hitting coaches haven't been able to get through to him yet. How much longer?
The owners, as they have proven, are interested in three things: winning, winning, and winning. They're going to do what's best for the team, whether it's popular for the fan base or not. So far, I have no disagreement with them. In fact, I applaud what they did last year. It's great to have owners who believe in the team enough to want to spend money to make them better.
