FANS SHARE THEIR FEELINGS TO VINCE CARTER.

It’s been nearly 20 years since Vince Carter left the Raptors in what felt to many as a breakup. Before his jersey is raised into the rafters, Raptors fans share their feelings with Vince . This is our TSN Original, Divided.

  1. Vince did not quit. He had injury issues and was still expected to carry the team. He is a human being and an entire country put unfair expectations on him while he was clearly suffering with his knees and STILL jumping out of the gym. Canada and the Raptors are responsible, not Vince. None of this was an issue when they had T Mac relieving some of the pressure.

  2. The greatest What If story of all-time. VC was the Air Apparent that never was…. and it broke all of our hearts. He was and still is the closest thing we've ever had to a second coming, but we'll have to settle for this ending, however bittersweet.

  3. Apologize…. for what? You people are delusional!! The front office quit on him and thought they could do it without Vince. VC put the Raptors and Canada on the map for basketball.

  4. Nah raptors are a joke for retiring his number. He wanted out. How are you supposed to make a good trade with your superstar when he publicly asks out. That’s the bs that doesn’t get discussed

  5. I was actually more pissed when Mcgrady left because it was mostly because he wanted to be The Guy and he didn’t want to be Vince’s sidekick.
I remember Tracy telling the story that Kobe Bryant said to him once that he should have stayed with TO and that he and Shaq probably would have played the raptors at least two times in the NBA finals with him and Vince!

  6. Vince doesn't owe anything….maybe if people stopped investing their entire well being over a bloody 'game' that legit causes animosity both physically and emotionally to people, you need to take a step back and evaluate your situation bruh….I love basketball and love Vince…never did I hold a grudge over someone who decided to change teams (companies) because it wasn't a right fit….i stopped working at a company and I upset ol Dave over here….well F Dave, is that the beacon of my happiness? Does his well being force me to stay where I'm unhappy? Hell no….so stop acting like Dave Toronto, there's more to life thank Basketball

  7. I credit Vince for my interest on basketball.

My life is better because of Vince Carter but I can't forget about him quitting on the team.

I'm glad to see the bad blood fading with time but let's be real.

Vince doesn't deserve the honour. He didn't earn it. He didn't accomplish anything. The Raptors are disgracing themselves and us fans with this marketing ploy.

  8. Love Vince. But he quit on the team. No hard feelings. It was a long time ago, but it happened. Business is business.

I'm glad he's getting his number retired as a Rap.

  9. Why should Vince apologize for having an embarassingly bad front office bungle everything regarding their franchise player?

The Raptors were LEGENDARILY terrible with their front office.

  10. Why would Vince need to apologize? It wasn't his fault that our management was an absolute dumpster fire. Getting a terrible return including Alonzo Mourning who couldn't or wouldn't be medically cleared to play. I was 11 or 12 when this whole situation happened, I was pissed. Hated Vince, hated Zo. But in retrospect, look what Vince did for basketball in Canada, he did a lot just by wearing purple.

  11. Am I that broken that his answer only made it worse?

All he had to do was say, it could have ended better. But he didn't. He said embrace all of it. Maybe I'm still too young (almost 40) or the scab is too raw. I'm not sure.

    Goodbye, Vince.

  12. Only reason Vince is here is because he didn't do all that much since leaving TO. If he went on to win a title in NJ, his career numbers kept improving etc etc…TO wouldn't be on the map. He had 3 good years in NJ and things went downhill after that….still had a great career, played 20+ years, but this was the peek. Still no reason to hold a grudge…I think we should all forgive and forget…I'm glad TO is retiring his number…but let's not paint the guy as some kind of saint. He did alot in his time here, left under questionable terms…he didn't show up that final year…he quit on his teammates and the fans…regardless of how bad management was that was mistake…I'm sure he felt inVinceable at the time…time proved his wrong. As fan I can't help but to dream what could have been had the raptors managed to keep VC and TMAC….oh well.

  13. wanting to leave was not the issue – HOW he left was the issue. He quit on the team in those last games, he stopped trying. And demanding a trade midseason got us nothing in return… and I still didn't hear an apology!

  14. I hated Vinnce for a while.

Everyone has the right to choose how they want their career to go.

If you want a trade fine. BUT until that happens you give your all to your current team. When he said he wassn't giving his all. That's what made me hate him.

Folks pay hard earned money for pro athletes to make millions, that's why you give your all for your contract.

    You owe it to them.

Took me years to get over that and to stop hating how he left.

  15. If your wife/husband treats you poorly and you have no interest in the relationship anymore and leave then I think they should be apologizing to you. I think it's safe to say that those that are looking for an apology from a victim of poor treatment after 20 years have some mental issues and need to seek therapy

  16. The guy in the beginning saying we gotta remember at one time he was better than Kobe 🤦‍♂️… did they edit the clip where he says dunker. Bc wtf is he talking about

  17. VC tried to make it work. I’m still not happy with the way he left, but when you’re that age and the front office screws you over….I don’t blame him. Just wish McGrady hadn’t left….Carter, McGrady and maybe a Bosh later down the line…..just imagine. The past is the past, but his impact can’t be debated. Guy single handedly propelled basketball into Canada…Toronto now is a hotbed of basketball talent, it’s all because of Vince.

  18. combined my Christmas and bday gifts and got the Purple Carter 15. The only jersey I had as a kid and the only one i needed. Thank you Vince. "Let's go home ladies and gentleman!"

  19. I remember that time … Me and my brother would record every raptors game … I remember Lakers offering kobe for vince … we were like no way! It hurt you left but for us I never could hate you …

  20. He is a professional basketball player who was paid well to do his job. By quitting on the team, he lowered his trade value and Toronto got little in return. There's no emotion in those facts. He hurt the franchise when he wanted to leave and that is the reason he should not be immortalized in Toronto by retiring his jersey.

  21. This whole last month has brought back many painful memories and feelings. I managed to finally stop hating him – and still I don't hate him – but I am conflicted about the jersey retirement after coming to peace with it. I thought he was going to apologize in this video. Instead, just more VC dick-riding. He turned this franchise into a laughingstock for almost 10 years. Will he apologize at this jersey retirement tonight? If it didn't come years ago, tonight would be the night to do it. Just fn apologize ffs. Don't be too proud to apologize. I cannot take anymore of this dick-riding during the game broadcasts and on social media. It's embarrassing to watch and listen to. We sound like simps. I cannot fully let this go until he apologizes. Unequivocally.

  22. Vince carter aint a Goat he left toronto. He just brought Toronto into thr nba map. Thats all we can give him. And he had the best dunk in an all star game. Tracey Mctoody too sold out Toronto. KYLE LOWRY AND DEROZAN WAS MORE A GOAT

  23. Vince a sell out. Hes not a true Toronto raptors. He left Toronto and didnt want to pirsue his career here. Lowry derozan and vanvleet were better guys
