Could Paycor Stadium get a roof?
Currently, talks in Hamilton County are starting to heat up about upgrading and renovating the stadium since the Bengals’ Paycor lease is up in 2026.
The county commissioned two architecture/engineering firms, AECOM and Gensler, to study the proposed dome, which cost the county a combined $139,000. On Tuesday, consultants shared renderings and information during a Commissioners staff meeting about what Paycor could look like with a domed enclosure.
The price tag for the dome is estimated to cost about $1 billion. “We just can’t afford the dome,” Hamilton County Commission Vice President Denise Driehaus said.
Hamilton County Commissioners like Driehaus are focusing on plans for stadium upgrades and a new long-term lease.
“That creates economic activity along the banks and provides opportunities to the people that own that stadium, which is the taxpayers, to go in for concerts and high school football games and other kinds of things,” Driehaus said.
At the current price tag, commissioners put a lid on those plans regarding Paycor getting a dome. According to Driehaus, the team does not even want a dome.
