Exactly what I have been saying. With Hronek and Walman and the goaltending we have – not much would be going in the net! (Don’t forget – SY also gave away – and I mean GAVE AWAY – 2nd round – positively NHLer Gibson – TO GET RID OF WALMAN ???????
So – we let Ghost, Perron, & Strong go – and kept: Fischer, Holl and Petry!!!!!
WELL DONE, STEVIE!!!!!!!
They need a trade for a legit 2nd pair defenseman to pair with Chiarot. In the meantime they should probably try Johansson on the 2nd pair over Petry
They're not a good team. They're not going to be a good team as constructed. They don't have enough heart to play sixty minutes a night and more often than not it's going to cost them. Yzerman built a team that will live in the lower half of the mushy middle. Not quite good enough for the playoffs and not bad enough to get quality lottery picks so this is where they'll stay for a very long time.
This is 100% unsustainable. They lost a lot of goals of the roster and it looks like they r focusing on defense first in their play. Lalonde even said they arent focusing on forechecking in offensive end. If some changes arent made with the system, this is what the team is going to look like. Very little offense, bunker up in the d zone and just survive. Constantly being outshot, not getting a lot of goals, and counting on your mid tier goalie to be a hero isnt sustainable, by no means.
Living in the Detroit area, I watch the Panthers, the Bruins, and the Bolts. As for Detroit, I watch the Lions and the Pistons. I don't know what the Hell happened to Steve but this roster is not good.
Instead of toe dragging, try press R1 I think it is for a Datsyukie and flip the puck up and over him. I almost did it but hit the crossbar.
Lalonde's system suckd
First of all I will say, being out shot is nothing new for this team.. Last season it drove me crazy because I knew it was unsustainable. only reason it's being mentioned now is because our offense hasn't been capitalizing on chances as much as they did last year to compensate for it. we've always been a team that is very picky with shots… until like that last 5 minutes of the game when we realize we're losing. I also think we're one of the most mentally fragile teams in the league. All it takes is for us to let a few softies in and morale is down the drain. I'm at the point now that I don't really care about losing but it's how we lose that drives me crazy. Seeing the Detroit Red Wings get bullied every season is what I'm tired of. Our style of play is very easy to beat. All an opposing team needs to do is overwhelm us with pressure and pucks will eventually end up in the back of the net. And it's that High pressure style of play that I can tell a lot of teams are successfully adopting
