Woulda, coulda, shoulda…
Damned if you do, and damned if you don't.
I'm a Bucs fan but Kareem Hunt went inside the tackles behind center Creed Humphrey and the two guards time and again with open running lanes. Hunt is one of the most aggressive backs in the league. He went 106 yards on 27 carries against the Bucs. Tampa Bay is banged up; Andy Reid "took what the Bucs gave them" including a reliable and relentless running game.
Coach is wrong. Knowing you don’t have the players, you gotta strike like Dan says. 33% is probably better odds than beating Patty in OT
there’s better phrases than “gotta kill him”
Everyone assumes making the 2 points would have won the game for the Bucs. The Chiefs would have had 27 seconds and 2 time outs to get in field goal range. Do you seriously want to take that bet, lol? They went with the BEST odds. I'm a Bucs fan.
Anylitics this and anylitics that. The only anylitics you should look at in that situation is Mahomes is undefeated in regular season OT…lol
I would have gone when I lose.. I would not have given Maholmes another shot !!
The bottom line is, like he said, going for 2 is maybe a 35% chance, flipping a coin is 50% chance. The coin is the better choice analytically.
If the Buccaneers went for 2 there are 2 things happening. 1 they have to make it and 2 they have to stop the Chiefs with 27 sec & 3 timeouts to get within field goal range. Do you like your chances? Or 50/50 coin flip?
Coach is 100 percent correct! The NFL needs to make it a fair playing field for both teams. But it is all about money for the NFL. They've got theirs by the time the game has started. What do they care if the game is settled fairly? If they really cared they would not guide the games with their refs.
If they had gone for the two and made it, Mahomes would have had 27 seconds left with 2 time outs left and would have started at the 30yd line. They would have had to only get 30-35 yards for Butker. Kelce & Dhop had been cooking. They probably would have lost. If they had gone for 2 and missed, critics would have said, kick the extra point there. Damned if you do, damned if you don't.
If I had been the head coach, I would have preferred going for 2. The Chiefs defense was tired and on their heels. I would have preferred going for it and not getting it, being aggressive on the road, than to give Mahomes another crack at it. Remember, Harbaugh raising the hand to go for 2 immediately when the Ravens thought Likely had scored. I like that mindset.
Dan, Dan, Dan… Mahomes would of had the ball, if the Bucs had a one point lead.
The only way to keep it out of his hands would be to receive the ball in overtime, and then score a TD..
Funny to hear about how the whole world wants overtime to be different, but when KC attempted to get the rules changed years back, the entire NFL said, "nah, WE GOOD." 😂
There was like 30 seconds left. Mahomes would have gotten in field goal range and won. 30 seconds is plenty of time for the Chiefs.
