  1. This is gonna be a long 6 weeks of rumors. We will be connected to every free agent of consequence and possible trade. Most of them will not make sense but it’s a way to “not show your hand” and “raise the price for other clubs” but it gets the fans hopes up and mad when they end up going elsewhere. I kind of wish they weren’t linked at all it would set expectations low and then pow! Out of now where they land this big trade or FA as a “mystery team”

  2. Let's hope the dots do connect to some FA signings. John Henry needs to start investing back into his product he can no longer just sit back and watch revenue trickle in year after year.. eventually you have to invest back into your business..

  3. The other sports have free agency periods that seem rather artificial and over stimulating even.

MLB is so much less than that but that's life. Theres literally no incentive to sign early.

JD Martinez signed in March of 2018. And he won two silver slugger awards.

I both cant wait and can wait at the same time if that makes sense.

  4. Until we hear Breslow stand up at a podium and announce an actual FA signing that is truly impactful, Everything that is said and done by media and agents is considered not true an used to hype a Former Big League team. Right now all agents and players will say they have interest from the Sox so they can drive up the prices and interest from other teams, this is what has gone on for at least 3 years now. The Sox have shown over the last few seasons they will say whatever they want and not follow through with it, to build hype where there is none. I'd rather they be honest and say, we are in rebuild mode, and until we see us in a good spot to make a run at things we are going to get our spending under control, and wait, even if it is 2026. I'd love to see a video to go through all of what would need to happen in order for Soto to get here, that way people can dismiss that idea when it gets mentioned. From money to who they would need to move and how they would need to move them, to effects of adding all of that and still bringing in more higher end talent. Most of the time I think the media just says these things so in the off chance it happens they can say see you need to pay attention to me because I knew about this before others. One other question for you Corbin, because you will know this better than I, when can Corbin Nation expect FA to start signing? I know it is technically after the World Series, or maybe a week or two, but when can we start seeing players sign? GM meetings used to be the signal of the signing period. Thanks and keep up the good reporting

  5. We have seen gaslighting on a much larger scale beyond the Red Sox. So, I am skeptical. At this point, I want to stop hearing the checking in, have eyes on, would be a perfect fit, and actually see impact deals in free agency signings and trades.

If Larry Lucchino were still around, I would be more excited. He was not afraid to green light the big deals… Sam Kennedy is too much a suit and corporate shill for FSG to put any faith in.

  6. They will do something. What it is could be anything. I think it will be young players and maybe one player to put them over the top. I think they are open to spending money but it has to be the right person at the right price. They are not going to give out a Sale or Price contract to a pitcher. They would more likely trade for Crochet and sign him to a big contract. If they do, I think they will regret it too because I believe he is an injury waiting to happen. But, I would be glad to be wrong.

I think they will sign someone from the second tier who does not have a QO attached. It will be someone they feel they can work with and make better.

I thought the Giolito deal last year was an ok deal. Short term high price. He spent the second half of 2023 of being traded and going through a lot of personal upheaval. His whole career he was healthy. And Spring training he gets hurt and is out for the year.

I think Montgomery wanted to come here but Boris did not want him here that is why Montgomery fired him.

When everything is said and done. I still think the Red Sox will be below the luxury tax.

  7. First Heyman is unreliable but I'd trust the local writers more. I'm still cautiously optimistic that Breslow is really good to try to improve the team but as always it is going to depend on ownership not stepping in the way. I've got to believe a starter, reliever and right handed power hitter will be brought. It's an open question whether it will be through free agents or trades. I think it's going to be through trade but who knows 🤔

  8. In order for me to believe the Red Sox will become the “big market team again” I just need to see them hand money out cause seeing is believing and they can gas up the Red Sox all offseason but there hasn’t been anything of substance so until there’s they convince a top guy to put pen to paper I don’t trust the media

  9. In this media age and being measured by how much traffic your articles and stories get content becomes leading and ambiguous for the purposes of generating interest therefore less about reality. Last off season is a perfect example..the media had everyone convinced that Montgomery was coming to Boston ..we were big players in the Yamamoto sweepstakes. The way to predict the direction of a team is to look at the actions of the recent past…I do think the Red Sox will add a top of the rotation arm. Also a few nice bullpen pieces. HOWEVER ..I don’t see them acting like a big market team ever again. They are out of that circle forever in my opinion. They are no longer in the dodgers or Yankees realm…..nobody wants to talk about what’s really hurting baseball….Guaranteed money contracts…sign a player for 25 million he gets hurt doesn’t play one game he still gets 25 million dollars ..that’s a big problem.

  10. One thing I learned in business is that new managers, at least the good ones, spend their first year NOT making big moves but getting to know the personnel and how the organization works. THEN they make a plan, change their staff, and carry out the plan. We know Breslow didn't make big changes his first year, but recently changed a lot of front office staff. So maybe he's made his plan and is on to carrying it out.
