I wouldn't get into a bidding war over Profar. Rumor is Kansas City is offering a 3-year contract. If it's too much money let him go and wait for him to have such a bad year his first year KC releases him, then we can pick him up for the minimum like normal.
15 million a year for 3 years and only having ONE good year in his career is much more than rolling the dice. With the Padres payroll issues they can't afford to go wrong on him for the next 3 years. If 2024 was his career year and the Padres get saddled with a normal Profar year for the next 3 years, the Padres will be screwed.

Profar not returning is the understatement of the year.
August/September he returned to his 2022 self. Hes only getting older. I would rather trade for a defensive corner outfield than to bring him back on a massive overpay. This also allows us some flexibility this winter. Hes realistically worth 5 mil a year but I understand pro wanting more. I hope he comes back on a team friendly deal but thats not likely
