Bortuzzo on STL: “To me, the result was important. But how you played, and the product you put on the ice was just as important for the city. It’s a blue-collar town with good people who embrace their teams. They’re not greedy in what they ask for — just hard work and sacrifice.”

Damn I miss our back hand top shelf Bobby Bortuzzo 🙁

  2. I love this, Bortz is pretty insightful as to the psyche of St. Louisans.

I can handle the team not winning, but when I watch I want to see hard work, commitment, team first mentality. It’s why I think fans of this team love their gritty 4th liners, and get really bent about players that don’t always exhibit hustle (this was Kyrou of two seasons ago — this year he’s really been terrific defensively).

  3. I miss Bobby Bo on this team. He wasn’t fast or flashy but he always stood up for the boys and put in a full 60 every night.

  4. Going slightly off topic here but is St Louis considered a blue collar town? I would have thought it’s more white collar these days since most of the manufacturing jobs have left the area and a lot of the work is service or professional work.

  5. If y’all have the chance read this article from the athletic and the one about binners leadership. Really cool insight from and about both of them. (Protip use reader mode in Google Chrome and you can read the articles for free)

  6. I hear this blue collar description pegged to Blues fans all the time, but are we any more blue collar than any other city?

  7. He’s not wrong. Sure, I love when the blues win but having a team that cares and works their asses off is great as well. It’s kinda what we have this year and I think most fans are ok with it.

  8. We’re the kind of town that appreciates a hard-nosed player, punching a lazy player in the face, even if he’s on the same team.
