White Sox are expected to trade Crochet by end of Winter Meetings, per Bob Nightengale

  1. That’s good. I was worried we might have some starting pitching this year and ruin our chance at the record.

  2. On on hand, it’s good that we’re working on our rebuild in earnest.

On the other hand, it’s devastating that Chris goddamn Getz is handling it.

  3. Triple A team playing in MLB next season with a no name team of bad and mediocre players.

  4. Probably depends on how quickly/slowly the free agent market moves.

If we end up with an offseason similar to last year where Soto takes his time in signing, then the domino effect on Burnes, Fried, etc waiting could slow the market for Crochet.

Of course it only takes one team that decides they don’t want to wait on the market or give out the bigger contract to those guys and would rather give up prospects for Crochet.

Whenever it happens, Getz has to nail this trade for any hope of a quicker turnaround. If he can manage to pull in two top 100 hitters that pan out to go along with Montgomery, Quero, and Ramos (as well as all the young arms), then maybe 2026 starts to look like a more fun year with 2027 as a somewhat realistic divisional contention year.

  5. I would be on board if they they could develop position players. I may be on board if they traded him for a handful of pitching prospects. But most of all, I’m just bummed that the already-depleted talent level is going to get watered down further.

  6. Ballcap Jim did video on 4 trades. Not bad to get 3 position players to develop.
We know Crochet is being traded… but what about Robert??? What should he bring to the CWS if they trade him?
