2. It was a totally different situation back then. We didn’t go after big name players because Karmanos was cheap and we had an internal cap.

   Rutherford signed guys that didn’t cost much and had high potential upside. Things aligned for the Canes in 2006. Just look at the decade or so afterwards to see that management/ownership didn’t have a winning formula.
