We were tied after the 1st quarter and broke 100 points, I’m walking away with something.
But yeah, OKC is just a league above … the league.
You know it’s bad when Dillon was the best starter tonight. Sengun, Jalen, and Fred were bad, barely felt Jabari’s presence. So far he feels like the odd man out among the starters. Good to see Tari start to regularly have 20+ minutes. Not sure what Ime was doing have Steven Adams in deep drop for a good bit while OKC went small and 5-out. And Reed doesn’t get very open too often, but he needs to shoot when he has even some space. Got annoyed in garbage time when he drove instead of just pulling the C&S 3, even when he had pretty good space despite someone running to close out.
Sengun turning into Enes Kanter since signing that massive contract really needs to be studied.
SOMETIMES YOU EAT THE BAR AND SOMETIMES THE BAR EATS YOU
TIP O THE CAP TO OKC. THEY GAVE US THE BUSINESS.
BIG UPS LAST GAME, BIG DOWNS THIS ONE. SUCH IS THE LIFE OF A GROWING TEAM.
I LOVE HOW AMEN AND TARI NEVER STOP FIGHTING.
NOT GOING TO SIT HERE AND BAG ON EVERYONE. IT WAS WHAT IT WAS TONIGHT. LEARN THE LESSONS. COME BACK BETTER.
78-4
STAY TIPPING
Ass whooped.
That trash 2Q decided the game.
Sengun has been so inconsistent. Hasn’t showed up once against decent competition like Wemby and Chet
Reed’s parents were projecting when they kept talking about toughness. He needs to wake up and shoot.
SGA is several years ahead of Green, he is not looking for three’s he is looking for good shots at the rim and he slows the game down. Chet sadly is also years ahead of Sengun, his three-pointer has to be respected and when he attack the rim it is with purpose. This is the first game of the season that a team was better than us in everything! Even on hard defence … they out hustled us!
Jabari’s got his potato baking in the oven right now. Reed gotta shoot the ball, 0 3PA is unacceptable. Onto the next one
Our 4th year stars and 3rd year PF need to get it together.
Our paint defense needs to be better even if it’s the best team in the league, we are a physical and they practically bullied us there and in transition. SGA was great but cooled down but OKC is ridiculously deep I can’t even hate 😭 we move!
Rockets is medicore or below league average on almost all facets of offense, excepr offensive rebounding. Once opponents figure that out, we are in trouble.
Sengun least efficient, focus is not there, but all others too, they missed free layups, dunks whatnot.
Everyone was terrible tonight and obviously Jabooty Miss Jr. isn’t to blame but please just start Tari.
We need their shooting coach. I don’t know who he is but we need him.
Hate Udoka rotation. Why Adams always playing ahead of Landale? Landale played so well last game. He deserves to play regular min tonight. Kind of kill his momentum that he needs to sit when Adams is playing.
Hate Udoka offense. Sengun set some really bad pick.
Udoka needs to stop asking Sengun to guard wing. It won’t work against every team.
Hate seeing Mitchell playing so well. Wanted him for our second round pick. Too bad he’s gone way before our pick.
The weakness of the scheme really showed this game. OKC was shooting well of course but they also schemed in a way that gave them open shots all the time. We really need to reorient the offense in a way that gives opportunities to Jalen because as it stands now a lot of the time he’s forced into iso, bricks a contested three, and that’s the end of the possession. Open the lanes.
Not sure there was much we could do but play harder and smarter. OKC is clearly a better team and was hitting everything.
Well I think we should use electoral college scoring in this game period 1: tie period 2: OKC Period 3: HOU Period 4: HOU we win 2-1. Sounds fair.
It is so annoying seeing udoka double down on defense when they need more offense. Amen and especially tari actually played way too much tonight, and tari had way too much control of the offense. Tari is like brooks, no matter how good they are doing for a time they are not offensive players.
OKC was scoring no matter how good the defense was, and they were in a good rhythm. Then udoka went defense and tari and amen heavy, rather than going more offensive with jabri, reed, and green. Killed the rhythm, then gave up in the fourth but still wasted playing Adams for some reason.
No one except Tari, Brooks and Amen are showing up consistently.
Question 1: Did Ime kill Reeds confidence?
Question 2: Would you trade Brooks and a first for Cam Johnson?
OKC played pretty damn good.
We missed a lot of easy buckets. I think we lost our edge in the 2nd Quarter when the officiating started getting sus. Started playing timid and kicking the ball out, only to drive right back into the paint because the shots weren’t falling.
We’ll have to get amnesia about this game and bounce back in the next one. I’m looking for us to be 12-8 by the time we finish 20 games.
We sucked. No way around that. Love DB’s consistency and efficiency. But the rest of the guys were mediocre. But I feel like it’s only partially on them. Ime needs to actually draw up plays and make adjustments. No way we should’ve gotten swept like that in the 3rd. And when we doubled SGA we got an immediate turnover. Why did it take him so long to make that call? Do they actually have a plan before the game or do they just say “Jalen iso. FVV alpi pnr.”
Really starting to lose faith in our coaching staff as a whole. Everyone looks like they’ve drastically regressed. Poor Bari looks lost. Alpi can’t finish. Cam got sent to the g-league bc he cant hit a shot. Reed won’t even shoot (he’s a rook but still). I don’t like the trajectory of this team.
OKC is on another level. We’re probably another strong contributor away from being able to bang with them most nights. Something is off about Sengun but the team and Sengun himself don’t want to address it.
Based on their season averages, they should have scored 30 points in that second quarter.
Instead they got 44 points despite decent defense. They were just on fire and sent our boys back to the locker room thinking it just wasn’t our night, and it kinda showed.
It’s a shame because we outscored them 87-82 outside of a second quarter where they shot 70% from the field, 75% from 3, and made 10-11 free throws.
TLDR: we’re fine. We lost on the road to arguably the best team in the league on a night when they were uncharacteristically on fire in the second quarter. On to Cincinnati.
Not a single player is standing out to compete and to blame. They are not the same level as OKC. If Rockets want to get better, they need to have more competition in each position. Everyone needs to be hold accountable. Look how OKC plays their second rounder in Q2 over two other first rounders. Status and mins should be earned not granted by draft order. Bari need compete with Tari and Amen as the starter. Holiday is the only viable 3 point shooter out of FVV and Green. Reed need to compete with Cam and Tate for mins. With what has shown, Rockets need to seriously consider sending Reed to G-league for him to adapt to the physicality and regain his confidence. He looks too timid there and showing no speed and rythmy on both ends. If the team draft him for shooting, it is not there. They need let him play more meaningful minutes when the game counts with the vipers if the team really want him to develop, and get him back when he can dominate there or at least can hold his own against stronger and more agile bodys.
I’ll be the first to admit I was wrong about Chet (outside of my injury concerns), but still have hope for Smith.
Shai is the real Gen Z MJ.
Guys don’t overreact they’re the best team in the league
Well, at least we still know who we are 👍
Are the Thunder better? Yes. But this game does not show the true gap between the two teams. I think we’re much closer to OKC that we realize. Q1 is a short span but we were playing great and if we play like that we can give them trouble. I think our team severely lacks confidence and mental toughness. If we miss a couple buckets and the opposing team scores a few in a row we go absolutely cold. Fixing that one thing would instantly make us better.
