I think some of the downward sentiment is just how badly those games against those teams have gone, though. The last 3 against those teams haven’t really been competitive at all.
Which to me is about what we expected to start the season. Problem is we’ve seen the team play so well against everyone else. Now the expectation is that every game which just isn’t realistic tbh.
Glass half empty- we have had a lot of rest and easy schedule until today.
Still thrilled with where we are either way.
It’s still VERY early in the season. With how the Jackets have played this year, this season is still way up in the air. It does look promising, though! When the Jackets do well, they do really well and I hope this is something the team can bring to more games. Even just watching what happens on the ice, I feel like there’s a TON of potential in this team that just doesn’t always get used correctly!
I believe!!!
I think this road trip swing is going to be telling. The score line against the Jets didn’t reveal the fact that we hung with them pretty well. We did have to go on the road and play an extremely hot capitals team immediately after. So if this is just a question of rest and we get back into it. We need to get that morale boost on this road trip if we can do that. I feel like people be very forgiving about the last couple games
The thing about learning a new structure is knowing what to do when your opponent shoves it back in your face. When it works and you can push the other team around with the structure (TO game for example) it’s awesome. You practice it working out right.
But you have to drill a lot to learn what to do when good teams like Wash and Winnipeg will break it.
If someone would have told me we were going to be 5-5-1 11 games into the season after everything that went on and who we lost… I would have laughed. Evason is a wizard, the guys just have to learn what to do when it doesn’t go so well.
Exactly. We had a gauntlet to start the season. The fact we’re getting out of it, into November at 5-5-1 is great. Our only regulation losses were against the best teams in the league. And even the team we lost in OT against, they’re supposed to be cup contending.
This team isn’t a contender and it probably isn’t gonna be a solid playoff team. At best we’ll be in and around the bubble. This isn’t a season where we were supposed to be winning, and we’ve done a good amount of it so far. I’m proud of the effort they’ve shown.
Ask me again after this road trip. This is the first big test for the team and we’ve got some softies on the road we SHOULD be beating. If we get out of the West .500 or above, I’ll start to really think we can sneak a wildcard.
That game against the jets was bullshit. The refs missed so many times that the jets tripped cbj players.
It’s fine, I don’t mind us losing to the teams that we are supposed to lose to. I’ll start being concerned when we start dropping games to teams who are at the bottom of the standings.
