This doesn’t really matter because I love this team so their name doesn’t change much for me. But still find it interesting and wanted to share! With that said, I’ll take anything over hockey club. I like it as a place holder, but I don’t like it as a permanent choice. I’d even take outlaws (not my favorite personally) over that.

  2. Outlaws needs to be the name, if not, then choose Mammoth. Hockey Club is a name that doesn’t belong in the NHL permanently.

  17. Just stealing something from a Colorado sports team apparently. Avs use a yeti foot as part of their branding, the Outlaws is the outdoor pro lacrosse team, and the Mammoth is the indoor pro lacrosse team.

  18. Outlaws was/is cool but I think it will be Mammoth or Blizzard or something like that if not Yeti, given the color scheme the team picked.

  21. I’m also not naming sources, but my person (two degrees from Ryan himself) originally heard Yeti and Mammoth with Mammoth being the backup if negotiations didn’t work out. Outlaws and keeping UHC were never mentioned.

  22. I’d prefer Mammoth, but I’d actually be cool with any option. Whatever they pick will be beloved in Utah by the end of next season.

  24. That’s pretty much the way that I feel. At the beginning of the season I was really rooting for yeti, but it doesn’t matter to me anymore. I already love this team and support them completely, the name won’t change that.

    It’s the perfect name. And plenty of sports teams have overlapping names from other leagues.

    Outlaws is still my preference but mammoths would also be good (it needs an “s” but that can be changed later if necessary). The team deserves a good name.

  31. Reading this makes me smile, even knowing the post is total BS. Yeti and Blizzard are both names I would *never* get behind. They’re both close enough to Colorado that they feel like rip offs.

    I would buy UHC branded stuff and stick with that name when referring to the team.

  32. Mammoth has been a sleeper as far as becoming my favorite name. I voted for Outlaws, but knew it wouldn’t win. Personally, I hate the idea of Yeti and Blizzard. Yeti doesn’t make sense because pluralizing the name sounds odd considering the Yeti is a mythological creature, meaning only one exists within most folklore. And as a life long Avalanche fan.. I’m ready for a team that has a fun mascot.

    Soo… Go Mammoths!!!

    Plus, the jerseys would be awesome.

  33. I would LOVE if Yeti is cast aside. I’m on the fringes of fanhood and Yeti wouldn’t help me be more involved.

  35. We know someone that works for a major area print shop that says the Jazz’s account with them has ordered hundreds of things printed with the Yeti name and logo on it. That’s all I know. 🤷‍♀️
