This was beyond egregious. Surely this is a suspension!?

Yeah, that was just blatant scumbag behavior.
I’m definitely on the side of “let the boys play and police themselves” in most instances. But this wasn’t that. He wasn’t fighting for position in front of the net and decided to bump the goalie or let a defenseman ride him in and make no attempt to stop… he just blatantly skated on his own accord and hit the goalie. The “code” goes out the window here, he should have gotten jumped for this.
Edit: I wasn’t watching and have no idea what happened before or after this, but a blindside hit to a goalie in the crease is unacceptable under any circumstances.
Seems the refs saw it for what it was and gave him 5 and the gate. Suspension should follow.
