I’ve been following this for 2 years, he’s either a dodger or Padre, and I think it’ll be us.
Unless something changed a lot within the past year, I recall, and my memory might be failing me, but Darvish mentioned he isn’t really close with Sasaki. He mentioned Sasaki is introverted, so last year when posting news was rumored, he jokingly said Marines fan should support Sasaki and petition him to be posted if that is what he wants to do. He said he has his contact info and talked to him at WBC but nothing more than teammates. Again this is all from memory and I’ll try to see if I can find the source.
We all know he was spotted wearing Padres gear. But what r/baseball and the Dodgers seem to conveniently leave out is that he has also been seen training with Nomo on multiple different occasions during his off-seasons.
I’m not hopeful quite yet because we’ve been snaked by the dodgers before. But I feel like Preller has been planying the Padres seeds in Roki’s mind for years now. Hopefully it comes into fruition.
I honestly think he’s too young to come over. I’ve been following him loosely since 2022. He had that perfect game back then, but has not pitched much in the past two seasons… I wonder what kind of workload he’ll get in his first year in MLB?
Of course, I hope we get him!! I still believe in his potential. And if anyone can help him became a great starter in MLB, it will be Niebla. Just… any team but LA please.
