[Rodriguez] According to my sources, the Mets have made an offer of over $160M for a period of 7 years to Willy Adames. Their intention is for him to play third base; however, Adames is not convinced, as he prefers SS. He has not made a decision yet, and so far, he also has a proposal from LAD

  1. We need to go higher than Dansby Swanson’s 7-year $177M contract with the Cubs. Slide the man $190M and call it a day Gerald.

  2. He should go to the Dodgers. Dodgers are the most elite team in baseball… why wouldn’t you want to play for them?

  3. I don’t think Giants are going to sign him and I don’t think they favor him over Kim either.

  4. I feel like they would rather go after Kim and go after a Pitcher that has a QO attached to them. I don’t think they’re gonna sign more than one player that has the QO

  5. God I hope we pass.
Am I the only one who doesn’t want to pay an above average player super star numbers?
    The guys career OPS is .766 / OPS+ 109.
Sure he’s averaged nearly 30 homers a game the last 3 seasons. But during those 3 seasons his slash line is
    .236 / .314 / .757
Isn’t great in defense like Chapman, so we’d be signing him for his bat. And his power will go away in our park. So we’d likely be paying a guy 7 years who will hit .235 / .735 OPS and 20 homers.
I’d rather run with Fitz and use the money for Burnes, Soto or save it.

Adames coming off a career year: 3.1 WAR
Tyler Fitzgerald playing 96 games: 2.7 WAR

  6. Just read another article that refuted the fact the Mets made any offer . Good ole Hot Stove! I’m sure we will get some plane trackings and more

  7. If the Giants can add him and Christian Walker, I think the lineup looks actually decent for the first time in a while. A 1-6 of Lee, Adames, Ramos, Walker, Chapman, Fitz doesn’t sound too bad. Good balance of power, contact, and speed.

Its clear the young bats need help, adding those two takes a lot of weight off their shoulders.

  8. I’d rather they don’t sign him tbh. https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/savant-player/willy-adames-642715?stats=career-r-hitting-mlb

His metrics make me nervous. Consistently bad whiff rates, high ass chase rates, strikes out a ton, has now had a terrible offensive year, and a good but not amazing offensive year in back to back seasons. Defense cratered this year, Savant has his arm strength down, range down, speed down. His Savant page tells me this is a guy who is going to be in decline sooner than later, and he’s consistently been a high chase rate, high whiff rate. Extremely low squared up percentages. I think he’s benefitted quite a bit from hitting in a hitters park too. Exactly the type of profile that ages horribly, and can change rapidly from season to season.

  9. Tbh I think HSK is the way to go. In a vacuum of course I’d prefer Adames because he’s a better hitter and has a track record of being a plus defender.

However I just get the feeling he might be a Xander type regression guy.

Plus I think the JHL/HSK duo would bring more excitement to the fans than Willy adames
