  1. i get “theres no such thing as too much starting pitching”, but with wheeler/nola/sanchez/suarez coming off the year they had (including a good postseason) and painter in the wings, i dont really get all these links to ace pitchers

  2. Honestly though why would a Japanese player want to come here and be the only Japanese guy on the team when he can go somewhere else and not be so disconnected from his culture

  3. He’s going to be very impressed at the Roki steps, probably a little confused about why the statue is so off.

  4. Can he hit for contact too?

I get it, you can never have too much pitching and this would theoretically open up trading the possibility of trading someone like Painter, but on the list of needs, is pitching really on there?

  5. Because his salary is capped at like $7.1m he’s by far the best value in FA this year, but that also makes him one of the hardest to sign because everyone is going to be pursuing him. I think he’s going to sign with the Padres and play with Darvish.

  6. They’re probably not getting him because of the factors that favor traditional Japanese-preferred markets, and the fact that he’s not 25 yet, but boy would it be awesome.

  7. He’s gonna be a big recruit candidate that goes to the dodgies, solely because it’s a faster flight back to Japan like Ohtani

  8. We won’t be able to get him over here, can’t even entice him with a large bag right now, but as exciting as that would be…we need bats. Our lineup is what has failed us each year. No hit in WS, went cold vs Dbacks, and no showed vs Muts. And there really isn’t much we can do to fix that, which sucks

  9. He might be the best pitcher in baseball – if you get him on the rookie deal it could change the way you operate for 7 years. Sanchez & suarez and any pitcher not named painter could be on table for trades. Soto become more reasonable because you have a cheap ace. The impact can’t be understated

  10. All 30 teams are probably going to go after him because he is so cheap.

I think the Phillies have as good of a shot as anyone if he doesn’t stay on the West Coast, but I doubt that.

  11. Zero chance. He already said he wants to play and win with LA.

MLB is fucking bullshit. West gets most jp platyers because of closeness to home. There should be a draft if they want to jpin the sport, like other sports.

  12. They need to break into the Asian market. He’ll probably end up on the west coast though.

  13. He’s just gonna do to the dodgers. No question. The Asians wanna be on a team together I think lol

  14. Sasaki (through interpreter): My hero growing up..was Joe Blanton…I wish to be like this.
